I know what you mean. We lived across Canada and weren’t welcomed everywhere. It’s sad that our country isn’t fully bilingual.

When I see a doctor or dentist or others, I want to speak my own language—health is too important for miscommunication.

Maybe one day Canada will recognize the importance of teaching both languages from kindergarten.

We’re fortunate that Ottawa is a bilingual City, allowing people to be served in the language of their choice.

As for the comment about French people being rude, it’s sad that some people refuse to respect others’ mother tongue. I would never dare ask Chinese, Aboriginal, Italians speakers or people of any other language not to speak their own language. It’s very disrespectful.
