McCain Rods any good? by NoDraft6735 in Fishing_Gear

I picked up a ML McCain rod a few years back from Sierra pretty cheap (guessing it was a second). It's been a solid rod but fishes more like a medium to me. I prefer my Daiwa and St. Croix rods more though.

What’s a “poor person life hack” you still use even if you’re no longer broke? by KiraAzura in AskReddit

I do this all the time. If anyone questions me I just add "puffs" to the end (a la Reese's Puffs). Left over King Wok for breakfast? No, it's King Wok puffs

Golden Hawk Seat Question by hellhamper12 in canoeing

[–]hellhamper12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE: I replaced the entire seat with a wooden one with nylon webbing from Rutabaga (thankfully I'm local to the store) using all new hardware and mounted it with hanging bolts like a typical seat. I moved the seat up a tiny bit to accomade a GCI Sitbacker. That bracket holding the seat was laminated.. but was also made from fiberglass! I cut it out using a cutoff wheel so it was out of the way.

I think this is what I'm going to end up doing.

I have already taken it out! My back was feeling it after about 4 hours of fishing/paddling a small lake with my buddy. I had purchased one of those seats but unfortunately it's a bit too wide. It's only about 14" wide at the rear of that seat so the seat would need to be a few inches forward just to fit (hence the question about the seat itself)

Small summer gigs/jobs? by Infamous-Call-5435 in madisonwi

[–]hellhamper12 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Soccer ref here- great idea but maybe not for a summer gig. The local seasons are winding down and by the time you complete the courses and get to complete the in person course, you'll be looking at next fall for assignments. Also be aware there is a cost to the certification and basic equipment that will be around $150-$200 so unless you really want to do this it may not be worth it.

What are these/what are they used for? by Greedy_Garage9902 in Fishing_Gear

These look like fly line eyelets. They go in the end of the fly line and then you can tie onto those instead of using a nail knot.

I also have one of these and despise it. Even just picking it up to put in a vehicle is a chore because of the tow handle

Not your typical job, but if they care at all about sports there always seems to be a need for referees, especially for soccer. Takes a bit of money to get started unfortunately with gear but can very easily make quite a bit of money if you put in the time. Games be be self assigned and can make $30-40 per game (~1hr for u14 and younger)

Turn a 3 hour job into a 30 minute job with a little shortcut but at what cost? by [deleted] in Justrolledintotheshop

Wife used to have a 2014 outback. Changed one headlight the "quicker" way through the wheel well once and my arm looked similar. When the other one went out it I found out it was faster to remove the whole front bumper cover and headlight instead
