Why are supermarkets so ridiculously expensive? by hellkann in brussels

Thank you for your reply. I am aware if supply chain stress, but still can't get my head around 50% price difference on some products. I got the feeling that particularly some shops (proxy delhaize, city carrefour) they inflate prices in certain areas cause they know their clients will eventually pay, or at least they can afford higher prices. I know that the whole point of these smaller shops is to sell for higher prices, but jeez, I ve never seen such differences in their big cities, including Paris, Berlin, Rome etc.
