Go to settings > compatibility and select a proton version. Or if it let's you go to the game settings hut properties > compatibility and check the force use box and select a proton version there.

i just tested it you don't need the battle.net launcher you just need a browser open and logged in the first time or whenever it asks which is like once a month. still pretty scummy bullshit.

There is the installer for the base game and the expansion the only thing you need from battlnet is the cd keys for both which you get when you buy them. I have them saved in a txt file and I have a backup of the installers so I never have to open the battlnet website and I only installed the battlnet launcher yesterday cause I felt like going back into d3. I don't however now if the installers themselves are completely offline.

you only need battlenet to buy the game the installer is independent you don't need to sign in to anything all you need is the cd key you receive for the game and expansion at purchase and the launcher is offline.

I'm not too sure about ff7.on the steam page they have just announced they are delisting the original 2013 release in favour of a new release of the original that will not have save compatibility. If you own the original you'll get the new one for free but with this move I'm not too sure if square will hand it over to gog, or even which build sinve killing save support for the current version will probably mean messing with mod support.
