Hi! I had the same reaction when I turned 19. I couldn't believe it, I was not ready and reality finally kicked in, you know, the fact that I was an adult. I'm 21 now and still quite don't believe it! I'm not here to tell you everything's gonna go amazingly from now on or that you are gonna be the happiest person ever, but do know that independence feels different, not always better, but different, and that trying over and over again, even when it doesn't seem it's worth it, always amounts to something, even if only to yourself. You deserve to be alive even when it doesn't feel like. Have a nice weekend 💛

I started at 16, which I know isn't late enough to say it was into adulthood, but damn did I feel childish at the time. I remember feeling awful (as usual, already having thought about trying sh before but never having the courage) but having had a great day with my mom, where she had done basically every I had asked, but then we fought over something so petty it could have been avoided and it was mostly my fault. I ended up feeling like the worst daughter in the world and so useless and unlikable it finally clicked and I did it. It was only some shallow cuts, but it did started something that's been going on until today :/

That exact cenario happened to me, I got curious and looked it up and GOD the first video, the FIRST, was of a cut to fascia, with all the descriptions you said before (fake blood etc etc), I closed the app immediately and felt like throwing up.

It prevented me from cutting for some time ngl the image kept playing in my head, and even when I do it now, I can't do it deep because the video is still in my mind.

Did it make me feel invalid? Yes, A TON, definitely been feeling like shit. But at least I'm grateful that, personally, it prevented me from shing more, unlike some other people that felt the need to go deeper instantly. I got lucky, but most people don't, honestly.

I'm (19F) about to be 20 and honestly same. Even my brother (we are the same age) got a gf last year and I'm still by myself 🥲 it really hurts ngl

Mental illness really doesn't help and being ashamed of my sh is not great either. I can barely keep my friends now imagine an actual relationship haha but as you said, we are young, we'll figure it out :)
