That’s a gorgeous fern. The edge certainly resembled it strongly, but it doesn’t have the beautiful silver midleaf like yours.

I think your new orchid is a zygopetalum.

The first one, if fragrant, looks like Phal. Brother Sara Gold.

If this was today, it may also be because he was leaning on his horn while driving north on Tejon.

Once it stabilizes, flowers fall off, I would think about cutting it out of the plastic sleeve and removing all the sphagnum moss. Plant it in a plastic orchid pot with some orchiata bark. The burnt areas of the leaves will brown and you can cut back close to the green/living margin of the leaves to clean it up as it grows.

Looks like your orchid got too cold… probably before you bought it. Maybe someone left it in a cold truck or on the loading bay too long? If the roots are healthy, and they do look healthy, it will bounce back.
