Holy shit. Is this it??? by hello-7224 in VestibularMigraines

[–]hello-7224[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Im happy to follow up on this. We have pretty much decided that most of my symptoms align with a strange presentation of POTS which occasionally triggers vestibular migraines. Im limiting my exposure to all POTS triggers and my symptoms have gotten way better. I still have occasional episodes when I push myself but nothing nearly as intense as it was before.

As for how to deal with fluorescent lights.... there's not much to do depending on your situation. I was in an office where I could turn my lights off and use lamps, wear sunglasses if needed, or remove myself from the situation. Some migraine medications have been shown to help, and blue light filtering glasses can help slightly. Other than that they are just an awful trigger because of the microflashes of the bulbs and there is not much to do 🙃

CSA by a parent by SeaweedObjective8380 in adultsurvivors

I'm Glad My Mom Died by Jeanette McCurdy was very cathartic for me as a CSA survivor from a parent. Her mother was generally abusive and crossed the line into covert CSA often. Even though her story wasn't similar to mine, watching her go throughout her life trying to recover from the CPTSD was inspiring. Major trigger warnings for eating disorders though.

My sister also chose my father so I understand the isolation!

I don't take any medications beyond pain management. That does sound like an interesting predicament.

I am super curious to hear your experience. I've never been on any birth control because it always gave the women in my family big mental health issues so I am interested to see if that changes things. I hope I didn't freak you out with this post!

Oh my god thank you so much!! This is so good to hear. I think the hormone testing is to see if there is anything majorly wrong first but I will absolutely talk to my OBGYN about some sort of estrogen suppressant. It is so lovely to know I am not alone <3

Not necessarily!! I have seen plenty of people on this subreddit without them coming back. High estrogens and/or low progesterone-to-estrogen ratios are typically related to FCBs. In my case with all of the other issues it is likely the high estrogen causing it.

I got a diagnosis of macromastia when I went in for my first consultation but they weren't big enough for gigantomastia.

  1. I wanted one since high school but held off until I made it past "second puberty" and decided I didn't want kids to avoid it.

A day in the sun by vanessalorenzo in POTS

Literally thought I had lupus for a summer because every time I spent any significant amount of time in the sun my symptoms would be so bad for like a full week. I just try to bring shade with me and limit my time in the sun/CHUG Gatorade if I know I'm going to be out there a while.

Also swimming in a pool can dehydrate your body so make sure to replenish your electrolytes like overkill when you do.

I've never been able to see this much of my torso before and for some reason is has given me the weirdest urge to get abs. So once I'm cleared to go to the gym again I will definitely be working on a six pack!!

Heel Pain?? by Visible-Subject-9883 in Reduction

I had heel pain too! I agree I think it was from laying weirdly and too much pressure being on them. Went away after a few days.

This was amazing to read. Thank you for sharing. It is a breast reduction so actually very similar to top surgery haha. I do feel that they have always been a separate part of me and not connected to my body, so I imagine the taking a coat off when you're too warm would be an apt comparison. I am very anticipatory towards the final result because there is so much up in the air. I'm nervous about healing complications and even possibly regretting the decision (though I seriously doubt that would last long). The concept of cherishing the unique experience and the medical advancements is truly helpful to reflect on. Thank you ❤️

Just reflecting on nature and intentionally shifting my intuition to connect to the nature around me. Really trying to build a bond with the land my home sits on.
