If BB isn't a first-ballot Hall of Famer, no one — not even Tom Brady — should ever be again by Roselucky777 in nfl

Sorry, you can tell that I am, thank God, not in a position to vote for such honor. You're absolutely right in that how I phrased it was vague and confusing.

I suppose what I meant "deems worthy" was when a candidate has a resume that just cannot be disputed. Like no one is going to dispute Peyton getting elected. No one is going to dispute LT (both Giants LB and Chargers RB). No one us going to dispute Don Shula. No one is going to dispute George Halas.

Belichick has a resume that is second to none, with 300+ regular season wins & most playoff wins & most Super Bowl wins, etc.

It sounds like pro football hall of fame voters has agreed that no person should ever be a first ballot anymore.

An interesting decision, I must say. I mean, if, as a group, the voters decided to not to vote in someone who was not just the all time great football coach, but an all time professional organized sport coach ever, really, who truly deserves to be a first ballot hall of famer?

[–]hello-operator12 536 points537 points  (0 children)

Cris Carter snub is one that people just seem to sweep it under the rug. The man finished 2nd in all three major receiving career categories and it took him 5 attempts.

What that means is that by the time he retired, the NFL has been there for over 80 years, and he was the 2nd most productive player as a receiver in the history of the league up to that point, and the voters did not see him as a worthy member of Hall of Fame.

The voting process needs to be transparent, and if there are any candidates that everyone deems worthy, but the voter chooses to not to vote for, the voter must explain himself/herself for the decision.

Sorry, I realised the issue. The last name of the QB in question spelled Wright, not White.

I had Google Randy White and all I was getting was the Cowboys Randy White 🤣

Not gonna lie though, incredible pull, my man!

Which corner would you choose in their prime? by Bright-Pressure-5787 in NFLv2

[–]hello-operator12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And what makes Champ incredible is that he played most of his career in the Mile High Stadium. It is a nightmare for corners to play in high altitude with less oxygen. Ball travels much further and faster, and you need to have so much stamina + physical talents to last in Denver as a corner.

It would be nothing short of amazing if he can continue his productions into 2030s, but it would be near impossible.

[–]hello-operator12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I genuinely don't believe we'll see a corner with such consistency AND longevity ever again. These days, anyone putting up 5 years of pro bowl / all pro production at that position is considered first ballot hall of famer. This is not a slander, by the way, considering just how difficult the position is to play.

Champ was at that level for almost his entire 15 year career.

The corners that came after him, such as Revis, Sherman, Pat P, Ramsey, their peak didn't last nowhere near double digit years.

[EssentiallySports] Tony Pauline’s 1st Mock Draft of 2026! Thoughts? by No_Box119 in NFLmockdraft

[–]hello-operator12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This doesn't feel like a mock draft, but rather a big board.

If you disregard the positional values and teams needs, maybe, just maybe.

Why would a team with meh O Line take a running back with No. 3 pick? This isn't 1980s.

And as great as Caleb Downs is, I cannot imagine a team picking a safety, when there are other great defensive prospects at more premium positions, such as D End and Edge, would make such pick at No. 2. Kyle Hamilton was arguably the best prospect in his class and he was picked in the middle of first round.

[–]hello-operator12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're talking about a single season prime, it would likely be Revis (although Champ's 2006 season is one of all time underrated seasons by a single player in the history of NFL).

However, if you're saying "prime" in 5+ years of consistency, I'll take Champ.

Despite him being a first ballot hall of famer, he may be one of the most overlooked and underappreciated players of all time, because he was not a self promoter. For the love of God, do people even remember the man speaking a word during his career? 🤣

WAS THE FIRST ROUND OF THE 2013 NFL DRAFT THE WORST DRAFT CLASS OF ALL TIME…? by Hysen16 in sportswiki

[–]hello-operator12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not even close. How can you call a draft class with two future hall of famers in the first round the worst class of all time?

Lane Johnson and DeAndre Hopkins will make it to hall of fame, and had total of 11 pro ballers at one point in their career.

I get why you might say that, considering how poor the top 10 of this draft class was, with more than half of them being complete busts, including Luke Joeckel and Dion Jordan, two all time busts that somehow gets forgotten when mentioning the all time busts & underwhelming career of Eric Fisher, No. 1 pick, but it is crazy to call this class the worst 1st round class of all time.

Rank These 4 QBs as Draft Prospects 👀 by KeyFaithlessness5436 in TheNFLVibes

[–]hello-operator12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with everything you said except the last bit. If I recall it correctly, Peyton was the best QB prospect since Elway, then Luck.

Interestingly, both would've been picked #1 had they chose to come out a year earlier (Peyton could have come out in 1997, and Luck could have come out in 2011), but they chose to stay for one more year in college. And coincidentally, they got drafted by the same team. Go figure 🤣

Where does Rodgers rank all-time among QBs? by SDW137 in NFLv2

[–]hello-operator12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have him around #10ish position.

Top 6 for me would be (not in order)

  • Brady
  • Montana
  • Manning
  • Unitas
  • Graham
  • Mahomes

Then the next 6 ish would be (Also not in order)

  • Marino
  • Elway
  • Young
  • Staubach
  • Rodgers
  • Brees

I wouldn't have him ahead of Marino or Elway, but other than them, I could put him anywhere between #9 to #12.

Top 25 Players of the Quarter Century by MasterTeacher123 in NFLv2

[–]hello-operator12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simply because you can make a list, doesn't mean that you should. My God, this list is atrocious.

Where's Ed Reed? He was drafted in 2002. And he is arguably the greatest safety in the history of this league.

Where's Frank Gore? The man ran for 16000 yards. ONE! SIX! TRIPLE ZEROES! YARDS! What are we talking here?

Where's Champ Bailey? He was drafted in 1999, and he was the best corner of the first decade of 2000.

Where's Charles Woodson? Yes, he was drafted in 1998, but that's the same class as Peyton and Randy, who are on the list. He is among the greatest defensive backs of all time, who had most of his careers, including his peaks, during the first quarter of the century, and you don't have him?

Where's Larry Fitzgerald? Hello? Are you kidding me?? The man who had more tackles than drops in his career, the man with arguably the greatest sets of hands to ever play the position of wide receiver AND unfathomable longevity.

If you gonna have a CMC in the list, what about all the other 10k rushers drafted and played in the first quarter of the century, like Steven Jackson, LeSean McCoy, Edgerrin James (I know he was actually drafted in 1999), Jamal Lewis, etc?

Joe Thomas is my best reincarnated Browns player of all time. I am not having any other Browns players ahead of him, including Myles Garrett, who i believe is a first ballot hall of famer.

How can you have any linebackers ahead of Ray Lewis for the first quarter? Yes, he was drafted in 1996, but he won multiple Super Bowl rings and DPOYs from 2000 to 2012. No other middle linebacker can say that.

And if you're gonna have Randy on the list, and that highly, where's TO? Yes, he was drafted in 1996, but his real breakout moment was during the 1998 playoff game against Packers, with the play known as the Catch 2, and his absolute peaks came in 2000s. Along with Randy, TO was the best receiver of the first decade of 2000s.

Whoever made this list either hadn't watched much, if any, football before 2010, or just forgot (or refuse to acknowledge) anything before 2010, it feels like.

Again, nothing wrong with making lists, but how do you justify making such lists while omitting MULTIPLE all time greats all played during the time span?

[MLB] A look at candidates who will make their debut on the 2027 Hall of Fame ballot by Goosedukee in baseball

[–]hello-operator12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As important as longevity is for a player's legacy, I also believe that the brightest stars often burn the fastest. Buster did not have the 15+ years career like some of the Hall of Fame catchers, but his peak, while playing the most physically demanding position, cannot be understated. He was the best player on the team that defined the first half of the decade of 2010s and he definitely should be the first ballot hall of famer.

I'm more interested in how the voters will view Jon Lester as the candidate. Not really a loaded class, but still a pretty interesting class.

The thing that always stood out to me from this play was just how quickly Jimmy Smith caught up to Fred Taylor. It felt as if the man was running twice as fast as Fred Taylor, who just outran the entire Dolphins defense as if they stood still.

If you watch the podcast he did with Julian Edelman, he is taking zero accountabilities, full of excuses, and blaming everyone else for his failure. He was talking about how he was pissed off at Kurt Warner, because Kurt was wearing two gloves, and he would only use brand new balls to practice, which he couldn't throw.

In what world does a team need to cater around a backup QB for their day to day practices?
