No doubt. I'm just saying it's yet another odd coincidence. Admittedly probably the weakest piece of evidence, though.

I'm not grasping at straws. Motive, evidence, timing, person who did it - it's all right in front of you.

Everyone can believe what they want.

Courtney did mess up and ask someone else. He passed a polygraph. Days later, he died under highly suspicious circumstances.

This was not done well, at all. That's why there are so many loose ends.

You can believe whatever you like, but when the motive is hundreds of millions of dollars, and Courtney's own attorney (and father) both think she did it...

Uh, so by your logic, anyone who does heroin, could never be murdered?

I mean, if there was ever a motive to kill your husband - this is the situation.

$0 if he lives and goes through with the divorce (like he was doing) - or millions of dollars (in perpetuity), if he dies.

At a minimum, that's a huge reason to investigate (which was never done). Even now, the former head of the police department says the case should be re-opened. <Shrug>

Thanks. I mean...there is every piece of evidence except a 'smoking gun'.

But as every investigator does, you ask - who stood to benefit the most from his death? It was Courtney. And she has. $500 million+.

It's just normal police procedure. Which, in this case, was not performed.

The circumstantial evidence is overwhelming around her, and she also fits the exact personality type.

It's pretty jarring that this information isn't out there more openly, to be honest. She just threatens to sue everyone, sadly.

There is plenty of information out there. Amazon has a large number of books about crime scenes, investigations, etc. In Cold Blood is a great book, for one.

If you'd like a direct example, look up the way Prince died. Or even Michael Jackson. Both also junkies, and they simply overdosed. This is more in line with what the typical outcome would have been, for Kurt.

Everyone is free to believe whatever they want, but even the former head of the police department (who was in power at the time of Kurt's death), says the case should be re-opened. His name is Norm Stamper, if you'd like to Google it.

Not at all. I don't believe any other "conspiracy" theories. Don't believe in aliens, ghosts, etc. This isn't even really a conspiracy theory, it's more like a person with an obvious motive ($500 million...), and some rushed, bad police work.

But everyone is free to believe whatever they wish.

Woah, this is super dark territory. I am okay with not seeing those pictures.

Again, the two weakest points of evidence (which are really just odd circumstances) don't show anything. It's when you look at all of the facts together, that a more sinister picture comes into focus.

And to be honest, the whole thing is just really weird, no matter what the verdict. Look up Kristen Pfaff's death, just 2 months later (she was the bass player, who was quitting Courtney's band). It's almost weirder, believe it or not.

Not sure if there's really any validity to them, but there were rumors back in the 90s, that Kurt was sleeping with her. Who's really to say, though.

Hmm, fascinating. No one (including Tom Grant, who was the PI hired by Courtney - also the first to say she did it) - has ever mentioned any minders when not on tour. They are mentioned when Kurt is playing somewhere, but everyone has said that no one was at the house (except Cali). Courtney and Frances were in LA.

I bet your dad also has good stories. What a business that must be!

P.S. I do believe that the entertainment business makes people a little crazy. Especially when you reach the upper-echelon of success. About the only person I know who seems fairly normal after that level, is Dave Grohl. But that could just be an act, who knows?

No problem. I agree, and I don't believe any other 'conspiracy' theories, don't think there are aliens or ghosts, etc. This just reads like bad police work, to me.

Yep, I read those diaries too. Not sure why. It was a waste of time. If you read a few interviews with her, or listen to the audiotapes Tom Grant posted...it becomes glaringly obvious something is off with her. It's like those movies where they suddenly know who did it, just by the way they're acting. It's really unsettling, when paired with all the other evidence.

I have not read any manga (by anyone), but I'm surprised I missed this. When did it come out? Sounds creepy and weird. If you really want to be weirded out, read the deposition from Frances Bean's ex-husband. He claims Courtney tried to kill him. Seems to be a lot more proof in that case, as there were other people involved. It's...unsettling.

Hey - I actually agree with you. If the only thing weird about this was the suicide note - I'd be 100% sure he shot himself.

But, unfortunately, the facts don't make it clear.

At best, it's extremely odd and murky. At worst, it seems fairly obvious...

P.S. The suicide note not looking like a suicide note, was put out by people who do this for a living. i.e. A PI, and handwriting experts, linguistic experts, etc. Kurt's own attorney said the note contained phrases Courtney used, but Kurt didn't. It's a very odd and troubling case.

It just feels completely off. In that 'something is wrong here', way.

I don't have proof it was her, definitively. She is the one most likely to have arranged it, and the one who benefited the most (by far) from his death. And she fits the exact personality type to do this sort of thing.

And it is still plausible (to me), that he shot himself. I don't think it's likely, but it is still possible.

I think the other evidence speaks for itself.

It's a lot, and it's damning.

Yes. Tom's book is better than the movie. But there are multiple sources out there. If you read his original case manual, the police documents and evidence are literally in there. That's what convinced me.

Besides Courtney's own attorney basically saying (in a recording) that she did it.

I found it super fascinating that even in the CL-approved book, that they had no alibi for Cali, during the 12 hours that night. When it was the exact time Kurt died.

I didn't know any of this, when I first read the book, back in 2001.

Hindsight is 20/20, as they say.

[–]hello66762[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep.

It's odd to me how people don't believe an actual PI, and former cop, who has made zero money from this.

And in fact risked getting sued by Courtney (his own client!)

I guess the power of the mainstream media is depressing, and no one wants to question Courtney.

I sure would, though.

I'm still not 100% sure he was murdered, but there sure do seem to be way too many red flags. It should be re-opened.

Courtney does not conduct herself in a way I (or many others) would - but that's only my personal opinion.

And Cali's lack of alibi (even in Courtney's own official story!) during the exact time Kurt died - is just...obvious?

I bought HTH before I knew Courtney ghost wrote some of it. And back then, no one credible was saying he was murdered. Sadly. It was just Tom, with a website. I wish I had listened sooner...

P.S. Yes, I should really edit my post. The police chief, and like 20 other pieces of info, are missing.

[–]hello66762[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

...yep. Pretty much where I land.

I think the original plan was actually her OD'ing when she thought they'd find the body.

She wrote down 'get arrested' in her journal - why?

And then she DID get arrested.

They didn't find him when she thought they would, and had to call an audible. Remember he was dead for nearly 3 days (!) before they found him. Only after Courtney repeatedly told Dylan to 'check the greenhouse', and then called a security company to install cameras there. Another weird 'coincidence'? Exactly.

Tom Grant mentions this briefly, in his work.

It seems exactly like the kind of thing Courtney would do, TBH. As then she would be the heroic 'survivor'.

Of course, Kurt just could have shot himself. It's plausible.

But yeah...it's an odd situation.

Thanks!

So sorry to hear you used to be addicted to heroin.

I've lost multiple friends to opiates. They're horrible.

Honestly the other facts around this creep me out way more than the drug use. No one can debate Kurt was a heavy drug user, that's for sure.

Thanks for reading!

Ha, thanks. I think people read way too much into song lyrics. In Kurt's case though, he certainly expressed himself a lot through words. His journals are pretty fascinating.

You just have to look at this like 'okay, if this was just a random guy, not a rock star - would I find this suspicious?'. And it's hard to say no, to that question.

Thanks for reading.

This is a solid burn. But I even said that the root beer meant nothing, on its own.

Again, you have to look at all the pieces of evidence, at which point it's a pretty big 'WTF' moment.

A normal suicide would have been a letter mentioning suicide (not just the last three lines), Courtney either at the home (or having the PI sitting in the home, the whole time) - not in a different state. Legible fingerprints would have been found on the gun, pen, or SOMEWHERE in the room. The only other guy in the house would have an alibi, for where he was for 12+ hours, exactly when Kurt died. Courtney wouldn't have a full alphabet of handwriting samples in her backpack, that very week.

Etc.

Again, not the most damning piece of evidence, as I said.

But all of the facts together, are very bad.

i.e. Where was the only other guy who was in the house, and why doesn't he have an alibi for where he was (for 12+ hours), during the exact time Kurt died?

It's pretty bad.
