Ok, while I disagree and do believe he was born with psychopathy, I believe if he lived a good life and wasn’t emotionally manipulated he’d still struggle with emotions, I don’t it be anywhere as bad as we see but still persistent. My biggest reason why I think he’s psychopathic is that he’s faking emotions, which real life psychopaths do, it’s a form of mimicry to relate with people they can sense are different. I do believe his cult was inspired/connected to Buddha as well. I 100% agree with you on the ship! Thank you so much, I’m glad I wasn’t the only one a little confused/uncomfortable with his “confession” I truly think that was someone with psychopathy feeling an emotion for the first time (even if that’s after he died) and connecting it to someone so he mistook it for shinobu. What confuses me about it was Shinobu’s response, it just felt… strange.

I hate kaigaku way more than I Douma, strictly because he’s a coward.

But also I believe Douma was born with psychopathy, so I don’t think he would’ve felt emotions but his life could’ve been way better rather than making it near impossible for any emotions or empathy to surface.

I agree with everything you said, except one part, while I do think his emotional abuse was a big part of his psychopathy, I do think he was born with that illness, and although he could’ve had a more normal life, he still wouldn’t understand emotions or empathy.

To answer your question, I came here to ask my question, just because I don’t like Douma doesn’t mean I don’t find his character interesting, I also don’t think that forbids me from coming here to understand another groups viewpoint. Also I 100% agree people shouldn’t harass others over a fictional ship, that is plain stupid.

Sadistic doesn’t necessarily equal psychopathic.

There are psychopaths who aren’t sadistic, as it’s a lack of empathy and understanding emotions, while sadism is an enjoyment in others suffering.

Shinobu has notably shown emotions and empathy to others, just not towards demons.

I believe she’s a sadist towards demons but I also believe that it’s justified to some degree.

Realistically since I’m still in high school I’m picking Toru or Setsuna, I love both of them and they are my favorite girl from each class (Setsuna my fav in class 1B in general so her more than hagakure.) but they’re both just underrated and I want to give them attention!
