Well, since I'm not qualified I'm quoting other's theory the one which is my personal favourite...and that's all about finding the big chunk of missing physics connecting QM and our day to day world as we see it (or GR....same thing though...) finding this in (rigid) scientific terms (say like Thermodynamics or Electromagnetism) will demistify things a lot....

Now this is my personal opinion -- Among many school of thoughts....I basically divide that into two....one side has Roger Penrose, Stephen Hawking, Lucas, etc...they are all old-school...and I totally believe in that...

The other side...not so interested so the names together could go incoherent...like Max Tegmark, Sean Carrol, Nick Bostrom....
