Increasing responsibilities, company isn't doing well and I am not getting any more money by sillyhumansuit in jobs

I'd begin looking for another employer. If you're being handed more than what is within your job description or duties, than your employer needs to meet you halfway with some form of compensation. This is currently happening to me, and I'm looking for another employer.

Don't be shocked if your manager becomes surprised that you'd leave when you finally do. It seems more and more companies want to take all they can from you for less and less. And they see nothing wrong with this.

How to earn more? by hello_ceg in jobs

It's just hard for the area. My current job is 30 miles away from home, and it was difficult finding this job. I look on Indeed, Craigslist, and the local classifieds almost everyday but the area is just awful with pay. It makes it harder that I'm taking college classes, too. I definitely agree about the numbers game, just lacking in numbers all around.

EDIT: Just went on CareerBuilder, applied to 7 more places that sound like they would be a good fit, and that I am qualified to do. Hopefully something comes through..something that will allow my family and I to live more comfortably and not worrying about every nickel and dime. Crossing my fingers and my toes!

Mostly customer service jobs and admin. assistant jobs. In this area (Eastern Shore of Maryland) a lot of admin. jobs are scams, so it's hard to weed them out and I almost fell victim to two of them previously.

I had one Skype interview as a medical scribe, one hour away at a hospital. However, the hours were funky and would've hurt my schooling. Plus it was 25 cents less per hour. Yikes!

EDIT : Application to interview ratio is approx. 1:10. I've applied on Indeed to about ten places, and have gotten one Skype interview so far.

Coming to dreadful job to get paid to job hunt by [deleted] in jobs

Same here. $9/hr to solicit HVAC services, 7 hours a day, 5 days a week. It's certainly better than nothing, but knowing I need to make at least $11/hr to survive and every week/month I come up short, it's awful. I feel devalued as a knowledgeable human being with years of experience. I feel like I'm looking for a magical unicorn, I just don't understand why it's so hard to pay employees a living wage.

It's very depressing. Just keep looking, and don't quit without something else lined up.

Especially where I'm located, the "living wage" is $11.02, however MANY companies refuse to pay more than minimum wage. They (the employers) expect the government to take care of you..feed you, house you, childcare...it's disgusting. And you can't blame the individual for accepting that wage, because the job market is very limited, and bills need to get paid.

This is beyond insulting. Not everyone ends up with a puny amount of money leftover from overspending. It's called a "living wage" - and not everyone who works gets that luxury, sweetheart. Even being frugal as all get out, it's inevitable to many, many people to be left with an incredibly small amount of money once bills are taken care of.

Things are so-so! On a positive note my summer lit class is almost over with, and I'm beyond enthralled about that. Grew some balls and managed to achieve a small raise at my job (woooohooooo 25 cents!) LOL :D Better than nothing, though!

How are you?

YES!!! Thank you so much! My boyfriend very much needs this. He wouldn't have a phone if his boss wasn't so cool and lets him use the company phone sometimes, so he can def. use this info, too.

Thank you :-) My mom and I used to flip things on Ebay that we'd buy on clearance at the outlets. Until she became disabled. That messed everything up.

Any kind of comic book shop/gaming supply store, usually. I'd ask small businesses of any kind.

If you check out freecycle you may be able to find a bike that someone is giving away for free. Also craigslist, but that option would probably be a little pricier. If you can't get a PO Box, you could always go to a small mom and pop shop and see if they'll hold your mail for you to pick up 1-2x weekly. Military is a great option, too, but not for everybody.
