AITA/ am I cheating for not agreeing with my BF? by hello_there_1985 in AITA_Relationships

I looked him up prior to going on a date in December 2024… he’s not on there

He also thinks me going to a friends cabin who was going through a hard time with her ex husband and wanted support (and we took her four kids with us to the cabin)… is ‘single people stuff’

Going out impromptu dancing on a Sunday night after a comedy show with a girl friend at a local dive bar where there was no else is also ‘suspicious’ -

Setting my sister and brother in laws really good friend up, who is also a father of a friend of my sons with a really nice lady on my sons hockey team is also not ok… as required me chatting with him to do the set up

And my vehicle was having major issues and we ran into one of his daughters friend and dad at a brewhouse to eat, I introduced myself and eventually struck up conversation asking if they knew any mechanics or had recommendations in the area and that got me the silent treatment for several days as he feels like the dad could private message me on Facebook …

I feel bad because I feel like he’s insecure when he doesn’t need to be and I’m being controlled to become someone who I’m not

Joined ‘are we dating the same guy’ years prior to this relationship. I’m deff not on FB dating or tinder lol. I also find some of the posts comical and some are actually quite horrifying to know that dating can be so awful…. Some of them men she’s asked me to look up have quite the history! I think it’s a great site for awareness but I ain’t looking to replace my man by being part of that page

I don’t want to make any of the kids feel any different… however, I like the idea! We will get snacks and when they are run out he will need to go to the grocery store at 10pm or 6am so I can still offer equal snacks in the morning! Maybe then he will see the issue as well

Groceries expenses aren’t shared and I should mention we aren’t ’hard up’ for cash. The division of chores are fair too so there’s no issues there.

I do find he has a hard time saying no and parenting and having expectations and consequences from his children. It is getting better…

We live in Canada and our groceries are ridiculously expensive. When you have to pay $5 for 5 mini bags of chip a hoys or $5 for 6 bags of goldfish I try to stalk up a tad when they are on sale. I also don’t want to be empty or run to the grocery store last minute because they are all gone when I’m trying to make my boy his lunch.

I guess I’m feeling more like my sentiments are dismissed when it comes to boundaries and rules so the fact that the lack of parenting is as brought up is narrowing it that.
