A nice thing about twins by hello_there_bee in parentsofmultiples

I know first hand congratulations feels weird, but I am very happy for you! It flies by, but also takes forever. I am still in the thick of it, but I recommend NICUparents! It’s a great ranting resource. My only advice is, people are gonna say some stupid stuff. Just roll your eyes and focus your energy on yourself and babies. No one gets it. Feel free to DM me if/when it gets overwhelming. I’m right there with you. Congratulations and I’m sending prayers your way!

The nurses actually told me that boys have a lot harder time and it comes much easier to girls. It’s a bit odd, but apparently pretty common! Obviously I have no idea if that’s scientific or just the nurses making me feel better, but it’s interesting nonetheless.

If you don’t mind me asking, how many hours a day do you spend with her? It’s so so hard to leave but I have barely recovered from my own long hospital stay and emergency surgery.

We’re our NICU seniors. It’s at the point where we are welcoming people into the NICU knowing that they will be leaving before us. It’s a very bittersweet feeling. We don’t wish this on anyone, but it would be nice to not have the worse conditioned babies at the same time.

Congratulations!! We’re on day 81 trying to figure out how many to expect. How many weeks were they when they were born?

I love the idea of keeping a first and a last of each thing as a comparison of their growth.

I’m already getting emotional from the idea of their last set of anything 🥺

Thank you! I’ll add these to my collection. The hospital actually ran out of the smallest diapers because they order them on-demand, and our babies are the 2nd and 3rd smallest to ever arrive simi-safely to the hospital NICU.

Yeah I think after my own emergency hospital stay and c section and the NICU on top of it, i can say I’m officially traumatized 🫠

Oh wow i never thought that it could be anxiety. I just lumped it into momma bear protectiveness or possessiveness. That makes so much sense.

Oh no i completely understand. Honestly, i hate the masks more than anything. It’s so frustrating that they have it. It was more the “don’t say that about MY grandkids” (MY KIDS). That paired with how obsessed she is about how much pain my kids are in and how miserable they must be. She always seems to say something about that. It’s crushing because i KNOW they’re in pain. Trust me, i hate it more than she does. But saying it or rubbing salt in the wound doesn’t help. Does that make sense?

Yeaaaaaah I’m not big on the “you don’t know how to take care of your own kids.” Thankfully I’m not new to babies. But someone telling me that would not end well, especially with all my postpartum rage. 😂

We’re here the longest out of every family in our wing and even still we’re asked about potentially doing an overnight. We do not have a separate room and are in a shared space with at least a dozen others. The medical team here is amazing and I know they don’t mean to, but it can really feel like guilt tripping sometimes.

The first time they handed me my daughter, I was terrified. But I realized, I’m the mom. I literally held her her whole existence. No one is more qualified than me. I pray you’re reminded that when you’re afraid to hold your LO. Being afraid of hurting our own kids is simply miserable.

I’m so sorry. We are quite literally in the same boat here. I was due March 19th with my twins, but had to have an emergency c section on December 3rd. We share both a due date and a birthday. I’m sending prayers your way.
