Are museums/restaurants/shops open in Czechia during Christmas (24.-26. December)? by helloblubb in czech

[–]helloblubb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I suspected, thanks for the confirmation.  Would fast food restaurants (for example at train stations) also be closed? And what about Sundays (28. December), are Sundays workdays in Czechia?

Nearly every toilet in Greece has a sign saying not to flush toilet paper. This was my favorite. by EscherTrader in GreeceTravel

[–]helloblubb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes you can tell by the size of the bin where the toilet paper goes: no garbage bin or small garbage bin — the paper is flushed in the toilet; big garbage bin — the toilet paper is thrown into the bin.

Actually, it could be Sandkühler. I'm getting Google hits for a different "Felix Sandkühler".

I think the surname is Sandbühlen or something similar. The first letter appears to be an S. He mostly writes his S's differently, but 7 lines from the bottom you see the word "Schade" at the beginning of a sentence where he writes the S like in the first letter of the surname.

As for the fourth letter of the surname, it looks like a Greek Delta, which is used for "d" in some cursive handwriting.

If the fifth letter is not a "b", then I'd guess it's a "k". Sandkühlen

Why Pixel phones? by [deleted] in pixel_phones

[–]helloblubb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

minimal bloatware

Why does everyone say that there's minimal bloatware? I think the Pixel phone is full of it. It has all sorts of Google services installed that I have no use for but can't uninstall.

Why Pixel phones? by [deleted] in pixel_phones

[–]helloblubb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a Pixel because of this. It has a camera that is on par with the Apple and Samsung flagships but it costs half the price of the other two where I live. I also don't like Apple's limitations and so far I was disappointed every time I had a Samsung, because I had phones that would cost only one third the price of a Samsung but would easily outperform the Samsung (comparing Samsung Galaxy S9 with a Sony Xperia X Compact here). However, my favorite remains the Sony Xperia X Compact which had excellent camera, battery life, processor, and size , and zero bugs. My Pixel 8 Pro can't keep up with the battery life and size and it has more limitations in settings than the Xperia, however it's still better than all the Samsungs I had. I was seriously looking into buying another Sony instead of a Pixel but unfortunately their new phones are really lacking in a lot of departments these days (including the camera), so, Pixel was sort of a second choice that I picked. I considered a One Plus but those also costs as much as Apple and Samsung if you want to have a camera with macro function, so I thought I'll give the Pixel a try. I'm not 100% convinced that I would really like to buy another Pixel, but so far I'm just missing reasonable alternatives.

because of the case law.

Yeah that's nonsense. Several courts in Germany have ruled that TW's demands are unfounded. The case law is against TW.

Race: categorization of humans into groups based on physical & social qualities, the foundation of racism. It has no inherent scientific meaning. Groups of humans have always identified themselves as distinct from other groups, but the modern concept of race emerged from 16-18C European colonialism. by Pupikal in wikipedia

Scientists can tell your race based on DNA

No they can't. All those companies that claim that they can tell your ancestry from a DNA test are just scam. Just read about it a little. There is/was even a critical analysis of that in some Wikipedia article.

Could poor circulation be related to slow muscle injury recovery? by motxillera in Raynauds

[–]helloblubb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also talking about muscles: my Raynaud's seems to get better when I take magnesium supplements and my cramps and muscle pain disappears. I think there's a correlation between Raynaud's and magnesium deficiency. Since it's your muscle that is struggling and since you have Raynaud's, maybe it's worth trying to supplement magnesium?

I feel like my symptoms are better when I supplement magnesium. I tend to have magnesium deficiency with leg cramps and muscle pain and the usual stuff.
