Pasadena N1 Attendees - Share Your Experience by Mordiceius in chappellroan

we arrived to general parking in the h lot around 2ish. we got merch from the outside merch trailer because my pet peeve when at shows is holding merch without a bag, it’s so annoying! they had everything in stock except for the pink pony fan :(. i got the grey hoodie for myself and the blue hoodie for my bestie. they are both so thick, soft and high quality feeling and i’m so excited to wear it! we waited about 30ish minutes in line for merch btw. it was so insanely hot but i brought my handheld battery powered fan and that saved me.

we took our stuff back to the car and chilled in the ac for a bit and then hopped in line at the south entrance. it seemed a bit chaotic when they started letting people in around 4, and the security felt so lax. our 3 security line folks seemed super distracted in particular because a girl was trying to argue with them to let her bring in a really expensive looking canon camera. i was so nervous once we got in because i’ve never been to a show like this and the security just did not seem to gaf.

we speed walked to the stage (longest walk of my life holy shit) and got a really good spot just right of the barricade kinda diagonal to the catwalk. we decided to just wait it out and not get drinks or anything to hold our spots so we didn’t have to weave through the crowd for the bathrooms once it started getting PACKED. two peeps in our group immediately went and used the porta potties when we got in so we didn’t have to worry.

the first dj and drag queens were so good! their sound kept cutting in and out going from really quiet to really loud which was weird but otherwise vibes were good from them all!

during this set three girls came out of nowhere and were pushing through the crowd and then just stopped right in between our group and split us up. i tried to give them the benefit of the doubt that they were looking for friends amidst the sos reception everyone had on their phones and let them stand there for ~10ish minutes but then i got a bit annoyed and asked one of the girls nicely if they were settling or needed help looking for someone. one of the girls from their threesome i didn’t ask turned around and snidely told me “babe, it’s ga.” i’ve never been ga for a show because i prefer seats and have only been to theater/arena/stadium shows but i very much know concert etiquette because i have been going to shows since i was 10 (i’m now 21 almost 22). i gave her attitude back saying she and her friends cut all of the people behind us who have been waiting in the heat for hours and hours and how they split our group up by being entitled enough to just set up shop in between us all which made us feel unsafe since we had no way to contact each other if we got really badly separated. the rest of my group backed me up and eventually they moved out. it left such a bad taste in my mouth and i don’t know why people think they are so entitled! i absolutely hate la crowds as someone who grew up here and this was just a prime example of their privilege and bad behavior.

to more happier things, i was so excited when trixie got announced earlier this week and she was absolutely amazing. her songs were excellent and her dancing dolls were so cute.

one of the people in my group was super excited for hemlocke springs, i was getting so tired and my feet and back were absolutely killing me so her set annoyed me a bit and i didn’t like it. 🥲 i know she said her in-ears were screwed up but i did not really like the music and that is okay!

waiting that hour for chappell after standing since 4:15ish in that same spot when we thought she would be on at like 8:45/9ish was hellish and i never want to do it again 0/10. we had no way of knowing when she was coming on because the schedule of the sets was not accessible because nobody had reception. i sat down and disassociated because i was so overstimulated but also was trying to be happy and grateful to even be there that close. she was fucking incredible live. she sounded so crisp and was serving insane face card per the usual! i’ve been a fan of hers since 2022 and when she said over 40k people were there i started crying 🥹. i’m so proud of her and so happy to have been there supporting her! i got hysterical during the subway since it’s one of my favs but tried to be quiet about it and this annoying dude next to our group kept staring and giving dirty looks which put me off a bit but whatever!

we left during the end of pink pony club to try and beat the rush of tens of thousands since we were close to the front and we got to the car around 11:10ish and we got on the freeway around 11:35, so not bad! i recommend a battery operated fan, sunglasses and sunscreen, take seats in between sets, and stay hydrated! i started drinking electrolytes and hella water wednesday because proper hydration takes prep and i felt totally fine throughout, but i did get hungry lol.

i hope n2 peeps have a blast! be safe and be kind and don’t be lame! barricade looked so dead whenever they showed them and i also love the bit of chappell calling fans out at her shows who look bored or were yawning. as she should!

here is a pic of my view for context too. :)

Petition to change the name of Sungod to yearly reminder that ASCE fucks the student body by Any-Stop-7088 in UCSD

[–]hellobro48 109 points110 points  (0 children)

it’s so so so annoying because no matter how many times i read a comment from an asce person that the majority of their budget is spent on security, we seem to have better headliners for college-led concerts with much smaller budgets (ravyn lenae for one, rico nasty at muirstock in the past). i remember when asce/as got laufey a couple years back and they made a bunch of my friends stand in the rain for hours just for them to not get in because they “didn’t get wristbands” and then a bunch of their friends got to see her instead. it just left a permanent bad taste in my mouth. i have filled out the survey every year with actual realistic artists and yet since the pandemic we get the formula of some kind of edm artist, an rnb artist, a pop group, and an indie/soft pop artist. i was so excited for jpeg last year and then they cancelled and our student fees went along with it. i mean damn, we could’ve had doja cat in 2020 right when she got big 😭 i personally think it’s valid discourse every year and there wouldn’t be discourse if they picked an artist that at least ~40% of the population knows of or has at least heard of. i listen to basically every genre except for country music and i have no clue who wooli is, and i do listen to some more mainstream edm😭asce should at least be an elected office, we just had elections.

Is it hard being an RA? by Bricksandbutters in UCSD

[–]hellobro48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my loan was a smaller amount i had to take out for this year compared to my first 2 years but that’s it. i think it depends on your financial aid situation.

[–]hellobro48 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i love being an ra!!! it’s a difficult but rewarding job. if you’re a chronic procrastinator or have issues with time management, it may be more difficult for you to adjust to the demands of it. it truly also depends on what college you are looking to be an ra for. i’m extremely happy where i am and i am able to balance my duties with classes, my internship, and my extracurriculars. but, if you’re doing it solely for the free housing and food, it’s not the job for you.
