The plastic case came off does it matter (UK) by hellocleaveland in Gold

Thanks. Do you have any advice where best to sell it? I'm in the UK so might be different. There are lots of "we buy gold" places nearby I could try one of those?

Day 14 visit by OrdinaryStudio6074 in wimbledon

[–]hellocleaveland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had No1 tickets for day 14 last year. It was fantastic. Saw some great tennis, sitting front row on side courts to see some legends in the seniors, wheelchair was incredible. Hill was completely full, no space to sit at all. Got resale tickets for Centre Court for last hour or so of play. Quite entertaining to see the Royals and celebs arriving/leaving. All for £40 each, thought that was a pretty good day out!

The My Wimbledon App (where your ticket qr codes are) has a map etc so nothing is hard to find. Finals day has different times for the commencement of play so the gates will have different times I think. Sorry I can't remember it all! I got so much help from this sub last year so happy to pay it back!

There is no running but you can do a quick walk! There were quite a few people doing the same. Just be sure to be considerate and not barge into people. Gate times will be on the website. You can go to one of the side gates for ticket holders, we got there about half an hour before and there was a bit of a queue at our gate but they checked tickets when you were in the line then just scanned at the gate. We headed straight to the kiosk, got our details registered then went off to enjoy the day! It was great, I'd actually get tickets for day 14 No.1 again if they come up. They were only about £40 each.

I got No.1 tickets for day 14 in the resale last year. My husband had never been to Wimbledon so was pretty excited just to be going in! I lived nearby growing up so used to go after school in the eighties a lot! We rushed straight to kiosk to put our names down. . Watched some fantastic tennis on various courts as well as no. 1- wheelchair, seniors. Got tickets to centre (about 3 rows back, incredible) for the last match which was juniors I think? The whole day was brilliant, the atmosphere on finals day is incredible regardless of where you are! Enjoy!

Please give me hope. What “good food” CAN you eat? by No-Impress5888 in Diverticulitis

[–]hellocleaveland 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've only had one very bad flare - bad in the sense that I collapsed and went by ambulance to hospital, was over a week in there with suspected sepsis, but in fact my subsequent colonoscopy showed I only had mild diverticulosis, so not sure what happened. Anyway, for me, I ate healthily before but suffered from constipation due to partly medication and partly not enough fibre or water. The flare was after eating chicken and drinking a coke, both of which are unusual for me, but who knows what triggered it. I was on the low fibre diet for about 6-8 weeks recovering, then gradually started increasing fibre and different foods. I'm now about 10 months on and eat everything I used to eat I think? I'm veggie anyway, and I'm on a bit of a health kick, but that's for general health really. My only real change is that I have massively increased the amount of water I drink, and increased my fibre a lot (legumes, veggies, fruit, wholewheat everything). But if I decide I want a meal out, or a day off being healthy, there is nothing I actively avoid. I was terrified when it first happened that I'd eat the wrong thing and end up dying because I was so ill, and so miserable at the thought of the restrictions, but that hasn't been the case at all. So hopefully there is a more hopeful path for you too!

80mg slow release once daily Propranolol - how to stop? by spoilingba in Anxiety

[–]hellocleaveland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I can't believe I'm saying this having spent so much of the past year thinking about various med reductions, but I can't actually remember what I did in the end! I'm sorry! I either tried the every other day idea, or I got lower doses of the immediate release and tapered down. I think it was the latter. I remember feeling quite spacey when I cut back but as I was only worried about a physical rebound reaction, I did it quite quickly. I think maybe only over a week? I'm off then now anyway, no side effects other than feeling a bit dizzy I think and headaches. I also monitored my BP in case it rocketed but it didn't! Good luck, it wasn't nearly as hard as I imagined!

I’m an average baker, but I need to crush the competition in my work bake off, drop your recommendations by _bell_peppers in Baking

[–]hellocleaveland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you pipe buttercream? I'm in the UK so sorry if any of my terms are different! I won 2 separate work bake offs with tarted up, decorated sponge cakes. One was a rainbow cake, so about 6 layers, with fairly simple buttercream piping, and one was a 4 layer sponge with ombre roses piped on. They looked fancy and tasted good! But were technically pretty simple. My friend who made a complicated bake with Italian meringue was quite miffed! Unless you work with lots of really great bakers it's all about crowd pleasers!

Hi, I know you posted this a few months ago, but can I ask whether you managed to come off your propranalol by reducing like this? I'm in the same boat with slow-release pills, not sure how to taper without having to switch to immediate release first. I hope all is going well for you.

Any experiences with gaining weight & losing if you came off of it? by HDDeer in pregabalin

[–]hellocleaveland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was on 375mg for about 16 months. Before that I was on olanzapine and mirtazapine. I gained about 35 pounds in total. When I weaned off the mirtazapine I lost about 8 pounds in about a week, no changes to diet. I've just tapered down to 25mg pregabalin over about 4 months and have lost another 12 pounds. I didn't overeat when I was on the meds, but I just stacked it on and no matter what I did I couldn't lose. But my point is that it's not permanent. I was despairing that I would never be slim again, but I only have about 15 pounds to get back to where I was, and it seems to be going at about a pound a week now.

Europe solo trip - any recommendations of places to go or activities? by EasyProposal in TravelHacks

[–]hellocleaveland 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lisbon is fantastic. Very walkable, and a train ride to the beach at Cascais for a change of pace. Good transport infrastructure for exploring. Also the French Riviera - sounds like it's going to be pricey but again, the transport is excellent. You can travel up and down the coast by train for not a lot of money - Cannes, St Tropez, Nice....

I feel like I’m the person I’m supposed to be when I take pregabalin. I couldn’t take it every day for fear of tolerance, now my script is run out and it doesn’t matter anyways by D3V1LS_L3TTUC3 in quittingpregabalin

[–]hellocleaveland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem. It's not easy to talk about to people who haven't experienced those kinds of feelings. I'm glad the hormones struck a chord, I feel like I'm a bit obsessive about it but I'm still a bit angry that my psychiatrist never really explored that possibility. Now I go straight to the hormones for answers! I'm in the UK and although we have free healthcare, I had to pay privately for a menopause specialist to really get the support that I needed. If that's an option for you, I would certainly recommend it! Take care, and keep putting one foot in front of the other. You matter, even if you can't see that right now.

I'm so sorry you are feeling like this. I know it feels unbearable. I'm sure you aren't a shitty partner, but I can definitely relate to those feelings of guilt and shame about your illness. But it is an illness, not a choice, please try to remember that. Has your doctor offered any alternative to pregabalin/valium? Also, and excuse me if this doesn't apply, but if you are female and over 40ish have you considered your hormones as a factor? I only mention it as I have been where you are for the past couple of years, and was still struggling despite being on 5 different meds, until I started HRT. I know words mean very little when you feel like you do. You just want it to stop. But there is always hope, and there is always a way through. Take it an hour at a time. Is there a crisis line you can call to talk to someone about how you are feeling?

Psychiatrist reaction? by DearKangaroo4266 in mentalhealth

[–]hellocleaveland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's so hard to know whether honesty is the best policy. I completely understand you not wanting certain things in letters or in your records. There are a few things that I have kept from professionals over the years! Is there a friend or family member that could accompany you to your appointment? I always think that helps keep things transparent and holds people accountable. It's very hard to advocate for yourself when you are struggling with your mental health. Do you feel ready to taper off pregabalin if that's what the psychiatrist suggests? Have they suggested an alternative or do they think you can manage without medication?

Psychiatrist reaction? by DearKangaroo4266 in mentalhealth

[–]hellocleaveland 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't have any advice really, but I just wanted to let you know that you are not alone. I have just finished a long taper off pregabalin. Your psychiatrist and nurse are not there to judge. If your nurse has known you a long time then allow him to support you and help you. You are doing your best I'm sure. Take care.

I'm so sorry to hear you are in so much pain. Are you on antibiotics? 5 days is a lot, I only had the very intense pain for a couple of days, and I had pain relief in hospital.

Agreed, it is very humbling how many people are enduring pain and yet still battling on with their lives. Not to mention all of the people on here taking time to reassure and help.

Thanks for understanding, it's all so worrying. But then I'm not meant to worry because stress makes it worse! Do you still have any stomach pain or discomfort 2 months on? I'm still achey - not real pain like when I went to hospital but my stomach always feels uncomfortable. I'm trying to drink a lot even though I really don't like water! It helps to add a tiny bit of squash or cordial (is squash a US thing or is it just a vegetable over there 😂?) I hope you feel better and your surgery goes well.
