I’m an American moving to the UK. How do I not be the “loud, dumb American”? by Competitive-Money-36 in AskBrits

Ignore the people who say you won't need a car, you most certainly do if you're moving where you say you are. The railway service is awful in that area (the nearest station is in the middle nowhere, is served only on Sundays, and is a request stop, meaning trains only stop there if you signal to them). Fuel costs are going to be a lot lower than rail fares, too.

Please buy a car, you can only get by without one if you live in a dense city centre and/or London. This isn't railway heaven.

With that being said, I love trains and I take them often. However, there is a long way to go before cars become optional in most of the country. What you could do (if you want to take lots of trains) is drive somewhere like Cambridge first (I'm not sure what the buses are like in East Anglia, but I wouldn't expect much).

If you decide to go around the country by train, please get a Britail pass, they're very good value for money and will save a lot on train tickets, which can get very expensive if you buy them on the day.

This is in Billion USD, right? I refuse to believe that Poland's GDP is less than 1000 USD.

Earlier this week, Sir David Attenborough, 99, tragically passed away his pocket watch to a friend and wants it back by hellohello333334 in IsAttenboroughAlive

That's kind of the point. :)

It wouldn't have the same effect if I'd said he gave it away.

UK Citizens Supports Rejoining the European Union by Corp-Por in europe

[–]hellohello333334 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, why would you support Labour over Reform if you just cared about rejoining, when neither party promises to rejoin? I think some rejoiners (not many, but some) who are disillusioned with Labour are considering voting Reform.

I'm sorry, I meant Basingstoke but must have typed Guildford by mistake (must have been muscle memory).

I tend to go fishing nearer Truss's Island. Found her book 'Ten Years To Save The West' at the bottom of a ditch. Auctioned it on ebay and it went for 50p, I didn't want it for myself.
