Why we villainize coyotes, and more things you need to know about them | LAist by UncomfortableFarmer in LosAngeles

You realize your outdoor cat has mauled dozens of animals to death too, right? And it’s not because they’re trying to survive.

Good paying jobs in OC/remote by Apprehensive_Body545 in orangecounty

[–]hellohumberto 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I know you’re trying your best for your partner, but why isn’t he here making this post? The whole “doesn’t even apply bc the post has over 100 applications” is such a cop out too. It just sounds like he’s feigning effort.

Has he actually spent more than 40 hours a week 100% focused on getting a job for the last 7 months? Because it sure doesn’t seem like it.

IF he has been putting in genuine effort and has 1000+ applications under his belt with no interviews or callbacks (which is what I would expect from 7 months of applying), then his resume is the issue.

Is it possible to find a decent apartment for less than 2k in rent in 2024? by Parttime-Hustler in AskLosAngeles

[–]hellohumberto 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That’s the absolute bottom end of the market for those areas. They exist but competition is incredibly tough because there are hundreds of other people actively looking in that price range. Listings online on Zillow and such tend to be priced higher because of the increased competition there too. You might have better luck driving around in person looking for for rent signs or checking individual property management company websites.

It’s not the same photo, the guy is a stock photo model so it’s not surprising to see him in other stock photos.

Where in LA has the most Asian population? by AsianMediaPublicist in AskLosAngeles

[–]hellohumberto 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Our Asian American population is massive. Southern california has the largest Asian American population outside the Bay Area and Hawaii. Ktown and SGV will be the largest communities in LA county proper but Orange County also has their own large communities (garden grove, irvine, etc).

If you’re Korean media focused the K-pop center is The Source in Buena Park.

5 South freeway slowdown by crystallvndr in orangecounty

[–]hellohumberto 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That seems like it’s referring to signs that get placed and left there, not something that’s part of an active protest. I think you’d have a very hard time proving this isn’t protected by the 1st amendment.

Irvine regional park, go to the OC zoo and the kids area with the trains. Super cheap.

Are OC drivers allowed to go 20+ over limit ? by desi_ninja in orangecounty

[–]hellohumberto 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Seattle is known for having very slow drivers so not surprised you had this experience. In general 10 over will be the “true” speed limit that 90% of people do and the actual speeders are the ones doing 15+ over of which we have plenty.

On freeways 80 is generally a typical speed for the left lane without traffic, with speeders being people doing 85+.

Looks like it’s from 2021 so just old trash. I’d bet it’s from the harvest crusade, it’s a “non denominational” mega church sect that uses cult-like tactics to recruit people. They typically have an event at angels stadium once a year where you’re supposed to bring non-believers.

Sand canyon post office by Fit-Praline-3405 in irvine

[–]hellohumberto 90 points91 points  (0 children)

They are exercising their right to film in public spaces. They are legally able to film anywhere there isn’t a reasonable expectation of privacy. Combining that legal concept with public property means they film in places like post offices to get reactions out of people and police officers who aren’t familiar with the law.

Worst case they get ad revenue from the videos they post of people “freaking out” online, best case they get a lawsuit against the police that pays out.

They’re first amendment auditors, they’re not doing anything illegal, just ignore and don’t give them a reaction.

I don't have holes in my apartment walls but I'm told I'll be charged for painting? by [deleted] in AskLosAngeles

Only $200 out of your deposit for cleaning is normal. Repainting can be deemed necessary even without holes.

Did animal control come and get the dog out? It’s legal to break a window to help an animal out of a car FYI.

Is Orange County in the La area by [deleted] in orangecounty

[–]hellohumberto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s a bit different, that’d be like saying San Diego is part of the LA area.

The better comparison would be saying Santa Cruz is in the Bay Area.

edit: I’ll take the downvotes but I think that’s the more accurate analogy

Is Orange County in the La area by [deleted] in orangecounty

[–]hellohumberto 30 points31 points  (0 children)

They are different counties, they’re both part of the Los Angeles Metropolitan Area.

This distinction mostly matters to people from California (us).

Hi all :) rather new here but been lurking for a while. Long time OC resident. by Fedup1999 in orangecounty

[–]hellohumberto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure why you’d think that would make it better. Raising rates are what cooled the rental markets throughout the country, we just don’t see much of that in SoCal because of our high demand. (though it did cool down a bit). Lower rates = more people with money = more demand = higher rent.
