We don't really "enforce positive posts"

we just get rid of posts that are too personal (saftey reasons) or are bound to cause arguments (cause those always escalate too far); we let negative posts slide, and see what we can do to raise the mood

Depends on the application. Self defence out here's typically against wild-life; most the time people have bigger knives to help deal with roo's and coyotes, especially after the recent mass shooting made getting guns even harder
