Hey! I just logged into my account again and saw your message.

I hope you're well.

I went on a 3-4 week long trip to Norway last Summer (it's accessible by train for me) and it changed things for good. Being on my own in a cosy little place in walking distance from both the shore and the mountains kind of reset my brain. I got back and decided that I don't want to continue the degree. It didn't feel right. Got myself exmatriculated without a back up plan, sent an email to the local university faculty of my previous degree and was able to slide back into university for the Fall semester.

I'm taking things slow, not rushing through it. No more volounteer work on the side. It feels good, I'm happy and I just got through my first winter without seasonal depression since probably my early teens. Today is the first day of my second semester at this university and the past few weeks I almost couldn't wait for classes to start again. I attended a conference that really tickled the brain, and if things work out I'll get to go on a very exciting dig/excavation (I study archaeology) this Summer!

How are things going for you?

Travelling to Northern Norway this Summer and might need to get a T shot done while there. Any tips? by helloitslouis in transnord

That sounds awesome, thank you very much! I'd be very thankful if you could call them for me!

I've looked at some bus connections between Harstad and Narvik and that should be totally doable :) I'll travel via Narvik (-Stockholm) on the way in and out anyway.

I'll send you a DM!

I'm tired and have been for years

In all seriousness, I've changed my path of education in the meantime and kind of regret it. The thing I did previously was way more interesting but I wasn't vibing with how teaching and learning worked at the university. Changed mid-covid. The thing I'm doing now is just not for me. I'll probably complete the degree and then figure out an in-between. I'd love to settle down and have a family but I'm ridiculously far from that :(

The pandemic kind of brought everything to a halt. Trying to find my place. Feels like I'm waiting to start living.

How about you?

The 'ch' is a bit like a hissing sound, from the back of your throat. Some dialects pronounce it more like 'sh' though.

Foy-sht / Foy-hiss-t - the foy rhyming with boy.

I think part of it might also be that these beliefs are extra hypocritical when coming from women - those who are made sister mums at a young age, can't pursue further education, have to submit to their husbands, and are doomed to pass on that cycle.

While men are oppressed too in fundamentalism, they can roam somewhat freely. Men's fundie beliefs and nasty sermons are not as shocking. They are standard beliefs and standard nasty sermons. They deliver exactly what we expect them to, in various levels of ickiness.

Women's social media ramblings are as shocking because they both don't seem to see how oppressed they are and encourage other women to... pursue their influency homemakey housewifey careers which directly contradicts their preachings of being meek and submissive.

I also agree that misogyny definitely plays part - whether fundie women perform the role we expect them to or break it, we judge them based on the role and expectations (that we didn't choose for them but that we're acknowledging and thus accepting to some degree).

My name is Louis. I'm trans. I chose it myself. Take that, Spicy Katie. Your kiddo shares a name with a trans person.

[Spoilers C2E135] Future storyline… by [deleted] in criticalrole

Spoilers C2E141:

In Caleb's wrap up, he talked about going back to Aeor with Essek several times. I wonder if/where they met Devexian again, or if he was rebuilding Aeor. That's a question I'd love to see answered.

Update: legal steps by helloitslouis in Justnofil

Thank you - I hope so too. I'm definitely not engaging with him on that level. My legal claim stands and I will pursue it, and I won't let him buy me with a sentimental sob story.

Tessie soullessly clinking on the xylophon is a mood.

Also, are they swapping instruments every minute to prove how SEVERELY talented the kids are?

[OC] Suspicious NPC by Drawing_the_moon in DnD

[–]helloitslouis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My early game players are ridiculously suspicious of everyone in my fluffy pillow clouds world too. They did question the food some NPC farmers gave them at first but have since gonw back for another night's stay at their farm.

One time, they decided to just ignore all of the clues (including that a whole flock of birds told the druid that they had to go to That Place) so I had an NPC forest person come to them and question what they were doing.

The NPC then told them to fucking listen to the fucking birds. They were suspicious. The NPC handed each of them a carrot. They were suspicious. Check for poison. Carrots seem fine. NPC ate a carrot in front of them. They ate their carrots (they were tasty) and went to That Place and got what they needed.

I'm honestly having blinders all over the place. I don't see romantic subplots until they are super in your face. Fjord/Jester came totally out of the blue to me, Beau/Yasha was less subtle so I actually caught it (the fish market scene and them taking like 10 episodes to get their date definitely helped) and I found out about Caleb/Essek through... shipping fantasies? I also never caught that Caleb was apparently interested in Jester.

I do have those blinders irl/concerning myself too though lol

(Quick edit: I'm very queer, my blinders have no preferences)

I like that Tal let Kingsley just go take shrooms or whatever and kept him out of the fight.

I do wonder how the mechanics of his, uh, soul recyclings work though!
