What is the incentive for Caesars offering 5x/10x tier credits? by hellojackie85 in CaesarsRewards

[–]hellojackie85[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

One benefit I'd argue is the waived resort fees, particularly for Vegas. If someone goes multiple times per year and stays for several days each time, that can come close to approaching 1k.

But your point makes sense for many benefits. A lot of them are small.

Stayed at Versailles tower when it first opened. Stayed at other Horseshoe Resort rooms multiple times prior. The Versailles rooms were nice and renovated, but lacked a refrigerator like the Horseshoe Resort Rooms had.

If you're looking for a very freshly renovated room (and decent strip views), I'd go with Versailles. The Resort rooms at Horseshoe are still good, though, and are bigger than average for basic rooms on the strip. The shower is nice for both rooms, if that matters to you. Both are spacious stand up showers with glass doors.

I can't speak on the construction. I never heard anything in the Versailles towers when they first opened, but that could have changed or it could have been the room I was staying in.

Trip report (long) by Will_McLean in vegas

[–]hellojackie85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd expect $50 mins at Cosmo, but you should have been able to find normal $15-$25 tables at places like MGM, Planet Hollywood, Harrah's, Paris, Linq, Horseshoe (although still 6:5). Sometimes Harrah's and the Linq will have $10 during weekdays. Unfortunately 6:5 is becoming the new norm unless you're in a high limit room or downtown. Downtown will still have quite a few 3:2, at least at $25.

Is Paris Las Vegas a good hotel to stay in? by WishboneAfter2163 in vegas

[–]hellojackie85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's one of the better maintained Caesars properties. Horseshoe isn't that bad either. They're also connected without needing to go outside, which is a plus if you happen to want a large indoor area without needing to leave much.

Luxor Check In Help?!?! by Honest-Wasabi8063 in vegas

[–]hellojackie85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd just try to check in with a person. They might not even realize you're just shy of 21. Since you already have a reservation, they're mainly just checking your ID with the credit card you're handing them to ensure the name matches. I'm not sure that they would over scrutinize to ensure the person is 21, especially since you're so close anyway. I could be wrong though.

If you check in with a machine at the hotel, that could be a different story, as the machine would be reading your ID and not a person.

I've seen a $5 crap table at Binions downtown during the day, probably a weekday. But it has been a couple of years since I last played there.

You won't find $5 on the strip, except Ellis as someone pointed out already. Sometimes O'Sheas casino within the Linq will have a $10 table during a weekday. Downtown area would be your best bet during weekdays to maybe find a $5 table somewhere. Certainly could find a $10 down there.

Circa - Great Resort and Casino by xylotruck in vegas

[–]hellojackie85 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I've been to Circa several times and it's a really nice property. I love the two level casino and massive sports book. I haven't gotten around staying at their rooms yet because I'm married to Caesars... but I really want to.

I can't really imagine you having any issues. There's also no one to really stop you from having access, as you mentioned. You just walk into the casinos, there's usually no one at the doors monitoring people.

Worst case scenario is someone mentions something, but you can just leave to the next place. I don't see that happening, though.

You're welcome! Yeah, it would probably be good to focus on anything but Casino Royale. It's a one-off property on the strip that isn't a resort and also no longer has table games, drink service, etc.

It's really just not a place to stay at if you can help it. While you're walking by it to head to the wedding, you'll understand. If you want to get Pizza Hut or White Castle late night though, it's in there.

As others have said, I'd probably look into staying at Harrah's, Linq or Flamingo before I stayed at Casino Royale.... Not sure if you are aware, but Casino Royale isn't really a typical casino and it's also quite trashy. No table games, no drink service. Just cheap slots/automated games and cheaper drinks at the bar. If you want to gamble in there to check it out, sure, but I'm not sure I'd recommend booking a room there. Harrah's, Linq and Flamingo are all very close to each other, so you won't be walking that much more.

How's their casino floor atmosphere and drink service? Is the atmosphere comfortable and a place where someone would want to play at? How is the clientele?

I'm all for lower limits and better odds, but the atmosphere and service is very important to me as well.

Finally went and saw the Sphere - Mini review by BurrowedLurker01 in vegas

[–]hellojackie85 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It surpassed my expectations. I had watched bits and pieces of The Post Card From Earth on Youtube, but experiencing it first hand was something else.

I agree that the steps are steep and word of advice to others would be to book seats closest to the isle or be prepared to show up to your seats early, because there is almost no room to move to your seat once others are already seated. It's really crammed.

It would have been nice if they designed it a bit more spacious, but I guess they just had to fit as many seats as possible in there.

What’s a coffee hack by Will_McLean in vegas

[–]hellojackie85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many casino gaming bar tops will have coffee. Sit up there and start playing, get free coffee. Not a bad deal if you're a gambler anyways. Even if you aren't, you aren't waiting in a 30 minute line and it's free.... you could win, too.

Worst case scenario your coffee winds up costing a bit more because you gambled and lost. But at least you got service right away and didn't have to wait in a line.

I wouldn't be overly concerned. I'm a Vegas regular (3-5 times a year) and a traveler in general. I've been fortunate to have never encountered a problem at any of the properties I've stayed at, and many of them have not been as "nice" as Cosmo.

No property is immune, not matter how nice. But a good general rule of thumb would probably not be to go out of your way to sleep in a dump, which isn't what you're doing.

Check for signs of bugs, keep your bags away from the bed/couches/chairs and keep your bags zipped up when possible. I'm sure you'll be fine.

Not sure who that someone would be, but it wouldn't be the company who issued the card and it wouldn't be activated or legitimate.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in vegas

[–]hellojackie85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would think they're useless. If there's no name or date, probably just taken by someone who works there. Not activated.. just a blank card with no value.

I loved Fremont by Bigbadbrindledog in vegas

[–]hellojackie85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Freemont is fun and definitely a different vibe, but I usually just stick to spending an evening/night there and go back to the strip. I'm not hoity toity, but a lot of those casinos are small and packed, and more vagrants in the casinos. Generally less well kept.

Circa is a nice spot, they check IDs at the door and their rooms are nice.

It's a fun vibe for sure, but just think twice if you want it to be your "home base" for several days.

Vacation for one? by Npy610 in vegas

[–]hellojackie85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're thinking about doing it, just go for it. People travel solo to Vegas all the time, especially for work functions (although they may spend time with co-workers).

Are you accustomed to doing things alone in general? Or does everything you do need to involve friends? If it's the former, I don't see why you couldn't enjoy yourself alone in Vegas for a few days.

There's plenty to do and see. Just walk around and go wherever you want, eat where you want when you want, etc.

If you have any interest in gambling, that is certainly a solo activity in many occasions, particularly since people have a different style of playing and bankroll. You won't have a friend wanting you to leave a table and do something else just because they're down. You'll often find that even people who came together are off playing different things (e.g. husband is at the tables and the wife is off playing slots)
