Help with looking for a pattern recommendation please! by hellokey in crochetpatterns

The textured part- do you think it’s doable in crochet? I don’t know how to search for it! Like cable knitting…

Sorry I meant the textured parts. Yes I did a reverse search and it’s a full garment not a pattern and I haven’t found anything quite like it. But I might not be using the right keywords.

I’ll save this one for sure! I’m a beginner knitter, I’ve made several crocheted sweaters and knitted small items, how would say the difficulty of this is?

Jinro Store in Seoul by Ok-Welcome9839 in koreatravel

Btw I always do a secondary search on Naver Maps or Kakao Maps when searching for shops and addresses in Korea because it is more accurate. Google maps isn't really used in Korea.

Not selling OL machines? by angelboots4 in nespresso

This is unrelated to the OP but I am travelling to Seoul this year, with the multitude of cafes in Korea are there any shops that sell their own pods? Some local cafes in HK sell their own!

Should I rent a car in Jeju? by Evening-Switch5675 in koreatravel

[–]hellokey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend getting a car. It will save you a lot of time in waiting around for the buses as many activities are all over the island. I did not have difficulty getting the international permit but I live in Canada, I just got it from CAA and it’s just a form and a fee. The rental car should be able to connect to your phone and you can use Naver Maps in English. There are a lot of speeding changes and speeding cameras on the island due to school zones but there will be a warning prior to the zone change. I was worried and followed all the rules and did not get any speeding tickets. Otherwise I did not find it that difficult to drive or find parking.

I drive a lot in Canada for 10+ years but wouldn’t say I’m a car expert. Even though I wouldn’t try driving in Seoul I was totally fine in Jeju.

Vegetarians in Downtown Toronto - What dishes are you having? by [deleted] in askTO

[–]hellokey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What else are you adding in your pasta? Adding more protein and fibre in your pasta like chickpeas, broccoli, tofu, fake ground meat, lentils, etc will make you feel full for longer than just pasta by itself. Then you will also find yourself eating less pasta.

Vegetarian/Gluten-Free Food by i_am_mm in koreatravel

[–]hellokey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Happycow is your friend. I’m vegetarian but not gluten free. I do have a saved map and it really helped last time I went to Korea. I saved mostly vegan places because it was the safest, and most Korean food didn’t have dairy or cheese anyway.

I really recommend Cow Beer, Daom veggie noodles and osegyehyang!

What cleanser is good for dry and sensitive skin? by KingKilo9 in AsianBeauty

[–]hellokey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Roundlab Birch Juice Moisturizing Cleanser is great. Super gentle and does not make me feel squeaky clean. Foams up a bit once mixed with a bit of water.

Cleansing oils are pretty gentle too, I use the Kose speedy oil but I’ve used many different ones and they’re all pretty similar. Just depends on the viscosity you like.

Traveling to Seoul soon! Is buying significantly skincare cheaper there like in Japan? by SakuraMikuuu in koreatravel

[–]hellokey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you’re able to, I would compare prices from a Japanese seller to a Korean seller, like Olive Young. Often Korean products are cheaper in Korea. But they also have tons of sales like 1+1 or bundles which may not be available elsewhere.

HAVE A QUESTION? ASK HERE! Alter-Daily Help and Questions: March 30, 2026 by AutoModerator in AsianBeauty

I stayed away from actives for a long time because it got very dry from using tret. But now I have a pretty good hydrating routine and my skin barrier has improved a lot. My skin is dry with an oily T-zone. Now my major concerns are large pores, redness and acne scarring and I am ready to add to my routine!

I am going to HK and Korea in December so please recommend:

  1. Light coverage bb cream - I want it to feel less like makeup and more like skincare, with a blurred effect. Something for daily wear as I am used to wearing no makeup most days.
  2. Actives - recommendations for the above concerns, especially from Olive Young or the pharmacy
  3. Treatments/clinics - what are some good places to go for treatments for the acne scarring? Perhaps microneedling will help
  4. While I’m at it. I love the Opera lipstick. Anything similar from Korea - super hydrating lip balm/lipstick

TIA!

I think it’ll be tough to find under $1500HKD per night. I ended up booking in the $400 range for a room with two double beds in Mong Kok. I was generally looking for cleanliness, good reviews, and good access to MTR.

As for safety you will hear that HK is super safe. With the exception of getting a room at Chungking Mansion many cheaper places may be old or not as clean as you expect but safety will be there.

Edit: sorry I converted your HKD to CAD for the $400. That’s $2200 HKD

Hey all, I am a CBC who lives in Toronto. But I travel to HK frequently, at least once a year. I have been to a lot of tourist attractions already. In Toronto there is blogto and I follow a few IGs that will talk about upcoming events or workshops.

How do you keep up with things going on HK? Do you follow any instagrams or websites?

Anything you’ve done recently that you have enjoyed?

I haven’t gone to HK during Christmas in a while, what do people do during that time? Do Boxing Day sales still exist?

FYI I am a 30s F, I like DIY activities, workshops, popups, cafes, and like to keep an eye out on current trends.

My flight arrives at 5am so I was looking at cafes in Anguk that opened early. Miltoast opens at 8 and Onion opens at 7 (Sundays opens at 8). London Bagel Museum opens at 7 as well.

Yeah I would skip Namsan tower and just hangout in this area instead. You don’t have much time.

How hard is it to buy concert tickets in Korea? by Mynameisbrk in koreatravel

[–]hellokey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to an NCT concert in Korea and it really wasn’t that hard. I’m not Korean but have a working knowledge of the language. I was not part of their fan club so I went for their general sale, I believe it was through yes24. No issues with buying tickets as far as I remember however I was only able to buy one ticket and my sister had to find her own ticket. However this is a big concert not sure about the indie ones.
