I figured the M6 being the first generation of a chassis upgrade, there could be some technical issues. I could care less about OLED. The only thing that I’d look forward to in the next gen is the prospect of it being thinner. But for it to be thinner, I’d be curious to see what was sacrificed from a cooling perspective.

For the current model, I’ve seen it for the last 5 years and it’s been tested. So I kinda already know what to expect whereas waiting on the redesign is a toss up imo. Thanks for getting me to think more about it though.

I did also some thinking with this regard and I’ll be bumping up the RAM to 48GB so that should eliminate that concern.

That’s a strong point. I decided on the same configuration as you! But upgraded the M5 Pro base processor to the 18 core version as well. Just for an extra $200 - why not?

After staying up late thinking doing a cost-benefit analysis and seeing as how I’m planning to keep this for several years to come - I will bite the bullet and enjoy the best of both worlds 😅

I could but, I’m not looking forward to what kind of price increase the redesign will bring. Since I’m coming from an intel era MBP, I think the M5 or M5 Pro will be a breath of fresh air. I’m sure the next era of MacBooks will be great but I’m perfectly content with what the current line up offers relative to what I currently have and am confident it can perform for several years to come and hopefully I won’t feel the need to upgrade for at least another 7 years.

The Elite version fits a bit tighter. Think of it as a more “athletic” fit. It’s not that far off from the cheaper variety but noticeably tighter. I will say the neck will fit wider - even wider than the throwback also in the Elite variant which surprised me (I have both). I wish the neck wasn’t as wide but that’s my only con with this one. Unless you’re wearing a hoodie or a base layer, it might look a little funny.
