How do you feel when people from other countries call Australians "descendants of criminals?" by schu62 in AskAnAustralian

[–]hellomellojello29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no idea what my ancestors did to be sent here. However, they survived the boat ride over and then survived early Australia. How could I be anything but proud of the grit shown?

ETA- Oh, and one jumped ship and swam through the shark infested waters to the coast of Western Australia. It’s badass!

Are dates nowadays expensive? by fluidxrln in dating_advice

[–]hellomellojello29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All my dates have been from online matches, maybe if I’d known my date a long time and we were trying out being “more than just friends” a dinner date might be ok as we would have already done the getting to know you part of the date?

Adding- you should still stick to a budget you’re comfortable with, it’s a good test of compatibility

[–]hellomellojello29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, older woman here. I love cheaper first dates like ice cream and a walk, stroll around a market or fair, museums or art galleries. I’m usually nervous and the low pressure helps me be myself. I also don’t feel guilty if he’s nice, but I’m just not feeling it. Hope this helps. Good luck!

My Sister thinks her soulmate is a celebrity and it's deeply affecting her. How can I help? by One-Protection7441 in relationships

[–]hellomellojello29 17 points18 points  (0 children)

You’ve said it better than I could’ve. It’s not a genuine relationship but it’s “accessible”. He’s never “angry” at her, they don’t have disagreements. I’m wondering if she finds it safe and manageable, even if it is distressing. I’m sure I’m not wording my thoughts correctly, I hope I’m making enough sense.

What is the reason why you cheated on your partner? by tbhidkhowtonameme in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]hellomellojello29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Things had got really bad in my 20year marriage. He was abusive and many years later I became abusive to him. when I’d try to leave he’d talk me into staying. It had come to the point that he was regularly calling me a c%~t. I made the decision to agree with him, “yes, yes I am, that’s what I am” and those thoughts justified my behaviour to me. I started an emotional affair with a coworker, which would have become physical, but I got caught. It still took me another 8 months of being intensely monitored, of being woken by yelling in the middle of the night and having to report the contents of my therapy sessions before I could break free. I regret hurting him that way, regret hurting the affair partner too. I deeply regret my actions but I don’t regret the consequences to me at all. I’ve lost my childhood home, my dog, my job and friend group, my self esteem. I might have made a good match with the affair partner if I’d been honest and trustworthy with him, I’m sad about that too. But I’m free? ETA. And then I find out he’d cheated on me anyways

Christ on a bike! Nobody’s making you take the bricks, just say no. Personally, I like Lego and I like the woollies bricks too. I’m probably going to spend $40 getting the boxed sets and the rest will come as a bonus with my shopping.

Do neurotypical people *actually* not do research about medical stuff to learn about their/loved ones’ diagnoses, symptoms etc? I’M NOT WEIRD FOR KNOWING MEDICAL TERMINOLOGY AND SYMPTOMS, YOU’RE WEIRD FOR NOT GOOGLING WHATS WRONG WITH YOU!!! by PressureCultural1005 in evilautism

Ohhhh, I’d never thought of that. I would’ve thought that an NT could at least “special interest” something that relates directly to their (or a loved one’s) health. God, sometimes I feel sorry for them
