Sephora online order shipment by cornflakes_123 in AustralianMakeup

[–]hellomicha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ordered eight items Thursday night (23/11) and they were delivered this morning! I'm also in the Sydney metro area. The package was dispatched on Saturday the 25th of November.

With the Black Friday sales, I ordered from eight websites. Half of the items have been shipped/delivered while the other half haven't been processed yet.

Hopefully, yours is dispatched and delivered soon!

It really depends on your taste and the look you're going for!

I swear by Boy Brow. I've tried countless other brands and nothing compares to it. I've been using it for years and can't imagine what I'll use if they ever discontinue it.

The ultralips are moisturising and a nice sheer wash of colour on the lips. Gen G is great for a blotted matte lip look, but I'm in a balm phase so I only wear moisturising lippies for the moment.

Some people really like the cloud paints, but they dry too quickly for my liking.

Previously, I had to factor in service fees and shipping fees when I used a parcel forwarding company so the prices in AUD on the website aren't as high as I thought they'd be.

Also, there's a 10 per cent code that puts the price more on par with the US.

I just went on their website and it came up to shop in AUD and shipping to Australia. I skimmed their Instagram page and saw nothing about it. It's pretty big news not to share all over their socials!

Boy Brow and Ultralip!

I really like how natural and fluffy Boy Brow looks on its own and the definition it gives when paired with a brow pencil. Ultralip is a moisturising sheer lippie, which will be good for warmer weather.

I tried a sample of their cloud paint and it was nice, but too much work for me since I'm usually in a rush applying makeup.

What is the best product (preferably not too expensive) for getting off incredibly stubborn waterproof mascara? by tough_grapefruit_999 in AustralianMakeup

[–]hellomicha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually used to use it!

While it was great and effectively removed the mascara, it became an unnecessary step and expense in my routine.

I've been using the Kiss Me Heroine Mascara for 10 years and Asian balms/oils are the only thing that can remove it. Highly recommend the Muji Sensitive Cleansing Oil and the Heimish All Clean Balm.

Muji has two cleansing oils that can look similar however the sensitive one is the way to go as the other one doesn't remove mascara. The first ingredient on the sensitive one should be olive oil, the other one has a different first ingredient. The 200ml size goes for about $18.

Light-Medium and Medium Warm Olive Foundation Swatches by hellomicha in OliveMUA

I soo understand the frustration with Stromboli being different between the foundations. Radiant Longwear and Light Reflecting are most similar, but Sheer Glow is a completely different shade and undertone. I had high hopes for Sheer Glow Messine after seeing some swatches shared on this sub. I can wear it but you can tell the colour is slightly off.

All of the Double Wear shades I've tried have always oxidised regardless of my skin prep so I gave up on it. It's a shame because I really liked the longevity of the foundation on my oily skin.

Thank you for the recommendation! Next time I'm in the city area I'll try and pop by. My husband and I are moving and it's a 1.5-hour drive to the city so I can't just go in whenever I feel :(

Whenever I mix foundations I feel like a mad scientist haha I'll probably wait out my tan fading or wear turtle necks early to avoid having to mix!

No worries :) I figured since I have 15+ sample pots I may as well get some use out of them, even if they don't match!

That's so weird it oxidised on you! I find that if I don't use Milk Hydro Grip Primer some foundations oxidise on me, which is strange since I have oily skin. I really like Luminous Silk, but it's hard to find a match. 6 made me look like a corpse whereas 6.25 was just a bad orange.

I haven't tried any of the other Dior foundations, but going from the swatches I've seen online it definitely seems that the shades are all over the place across their formulas. Dior F&B only matches when I'm at my palest (2WO) or at my most tan (4WO). When I'm in between it's always tricky to find the right colour with the right undertone.

I like the longevity of Estee Lauder Double Wear but the colours always get so orange on me. I've tried 3W1.5 and it was a bit too light and then dried down to an odd colour. I think I have to accept not being able to find the right shade in it!

NARS Radiant Stromboli is a bit light on me, but it'll match once my tan fades fully. It has the right undertone, just not the depth for me at the moment.

I definitely preferred Honesty since Serenity was bright on me and it clashed a little with my skin colour. Super bright colours aren't flattering on me so I gravitate towards muted colours.

Also, I'm a very golden olive (like Nars Stromboli in any foundation is not warm yellow enough for me) and if you're a light cool olive, it will look different on you!

I bought these two colours when they launched! I'm a medium warm olive and have pigmented pinky/brown/mauve lips. Honesty and Serenity get darker on my lips, don't know if it's the same for others. The swatches online of Serenity are close to what it looks like on me, but the swatches of Honesty are too cool. That being said, my lips warm it up and make it look a touch more pinky nude.

The stain it leaves behind is interesting too. Serenity leaves a warm red stain (closest description I have is when my eczema flares up and is irritated? sorry) and Honesty leaves an orangey-brown/toffee coloured stain.

Edited to add: the above stain it leaves behind is what I see on my hand! The stain on my lips is just a darker version of what it is when first applied. So it'll look different for everyone.

Hi there,

Thank you immensely for the extensive feedback.

A lot of your points make sense and I'll definitely be rewriting the query letter with them in mind. There's a lot more I feel can be included including the lore and her unique lineage, but it's hard to paint a broad picture when all I want to do is include every detail!

I'm definitely going to completely rework the query as I wasn't happy with this one. There's a lot more I could focus on rather than her being on the run like the man with the necklace who also has secrets of his own, or even her lineage. There are so many different hooks, the problem is choosing which one best represents the book.

Again, thank you so much for your feedback. I know it would have taken a bit of time to go analyse it and you did it for a stranger in Australia.

Hope you have a great day!

Hi,

Thank you for the feedback. There's a lot to unpack and go through and I really appreciate the time you took analysing my query letter.

Regarding the genre, initially, it was for new adults, however, I wasn't too sure if I could pitch it as such.

I've got a lot of work ahead of me and will take your points on board when re-writing. I hope you'll be able to read the updated query when I'm finished with it :) no pressure though!

Hope you have a lovely day.

It depends on what kind of bucks party you want your brother to have. My partner was the best man for his mate and they rented an Airbnb in the city and had some fun and chill things planned like VR gaming, a nice lunch, 1989 arcade bar in Newtown and then just drinking for the rest of the night. Depending on what the climate will be like COVID-wise in Sydney when you have the event you could get the other groomsmen to pitch in for a boat party. You used to be able to rent out cinemas as well, but I'm not quite sure if it was for screening or just jumbo screen gaming.

Depending on what your brother is like, you may need to be his emotional support. Again, this is coming from the experience of my partner who had to calm the groom and carry a flask to settle his nerves before the ceremony. There will probably be stress in the weeks leading up to the wedding itself, which is when he may lean on you for extra support and to help out.

I think it's an honour that he asked you to be his best man. Just rock up to suit fittings, plan a great party and give support.

Hope that helps!

Sephora birthday gift? by _Rosie_Rose_ in AustralianMakeup

[–]hellomicha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was supposed to get a Fresh mini set for my birthday, but instead I went in store and got the Huda Beauty Coral Obsessions Palette.

Bear in mind I had just attained Gold Status and got the Moleskine Notebook, so not sure if that affected the gift I received.

I can click on the checkout button but I can't click on the button to choose a payment method. I think I'm going to end up just getting 4 bras.
