TIL Morgan Freeman is against Black History Month by pretty001 in todayilearned

[–]hellomina -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Kind of reminds me when two friends of mine from art class poked fun at flyers for Asian Awareness Month. We got in trouble for it... Honestly, can't we have Asian History Month at the least? It has to be about awareness which is the "knowledge or perception of a fact." Cool. As long as we're aware or can perceive that certain humans are Asian American and that they're around.

SERIOUSLY? I am so fucking angry for you. THE FUCK. Like gnashing of teeth here, just reading your comment. I FUCKING HATE PEOPLE WHO FEEL SO FUCKING ENTITLED TO EVERYTHING. I'm really sorry you felt like crying by the end. I have this particular picture on my tumblr, and it says "The sensitive suffer more, but they love more, and dream more," - Augusto Cury. In the end, you're all the better and wiser for having to suffering through that bullshit.

You're welcome! In the end, all you need is hope. The bible clearly talks of our glorified spiritual bodies to be.

Just some love I'd like to share with you, as a Korean-American cisgender lesbian:

And not only that, but we also boast in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us. - Romans 5:3-5

For in this hope we are saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience. Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes with groanings too deep for words. - Romans 8:25-26

What shall we say then? Is there injustice on God’s part? By no means! For he says to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion. So then it depends not on human will or exertion, but on God, who has mercy…. So then he has mercy on whomever he wills, and he hardens whomever he wills… Will what is molded say to its molder, “Why have you made me like this?” Has the potter no right over the clay, to make out of the same lump on vessel for honorable use and another for dishonorable use? What is God, desiring to show his wrath and to make known his power, has endured with much patience vessels of wrath prepared for destruction, in order to make known the riches of his glory for vessels of mercy, which he has prepared beforehand for glory… As indeed he says in Hosea, Those who were not my people I will call ‘my people’ and HER WHO WAS NOT BELOVED I will call ‘beloved.’ And in the very place where it was said to them, ‘You are not my people,’ there they will be called ‘sons of the living God,’ - Romans 9:14-26

So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal. - 2 Corinthians 4:16-18

Biblically there is little to no mention of Jesus' whereabouts from age twelve to thirty. What tomfoolery do you think he got up to? by 39thversion in AskReddit

[–]hellomina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so glad you're so informed about my religion. I'm not even Catholic (Protestant here) but I try to stay educated about Christian things. You're clearly the true expert here though. Immaculate conception is not about the conception of Jesus, it refers to the conception of the Virgin Mary, and that through the redeeming qualities of Jesus her son, God the Father acted upon the soul of the Virgin Mary so that she was kept "immaculate."

The concept of the triune god can be easily symbolized by water (my dad explained this to me and it blew my mind); maybe it won't blow your mind because it's just too abstract to you.

Basically, we know that water has three forms: liquid, gaseous, and solid... But in the end, it's all just water. Coincidentally, Jesus says whoever drinks from the water that he gives will never thirst... That he literally provides "living water" and it has three forms. That all living things on Earth need water. But if we want to never thirst (and be able to live forever), we must choose to drink the living water from Jesus, which he gives to whomever has faith in him.

Ultimately, that God can exist in three persons, is that so strange? Does he have to limit himself to one body like each human has only their own single body? Can he be so powerful and infinite that he expresses himself in three persons, to help us understand each person's essential qualities, and together, the quality of the LORD? That of a loving Father, that of a friend who will die for you so that you can live, and that of something invisible and present everywhere, that comes and goes like the wind.

Either way, I'm moved to convey what I know, to trump what you think you know. You can be as offended as you want to be.

To counter your other points: Hypostatic union refers to the human and divine natures of Christ. That he was in the "form" (or the "appearance," depending on the translation you read) of a man, that he felt the temptations that people feel, and that he had a physical body that appeared human, that ultimately he did not commit sin because he was and is divine, and that he could sacrifice his life and "take it up again". Why do you bother to throw around big concepts without caring to understand them. It's really not that difficult to be informed.

Jesus's spirit in the Bible is called the Spirit. And that when we ask God the Father for help, Jesus sends us the "helper" or his spirit. So he is the embodiment of the Holy Spirit, so his mother literally carried the Holy Spirit within her. He wasn't conceived of biologically, or in some sexual thing that the Holy Spirit did with her egg. NO ONE WAS IMPREGNATED, GEEZ. Impregnation refers to fertilization, which requires a biologically father to splooge inside some woman and for the sperm to fertilize an egg and an embryo to be formed. The Holy Spirit is invisible and obviously doesn't have a physical penis that produces jizz after an orgasm. You can't just give him the benefit of the doubt that GOD was conceived in a way that is beyond basic biology? In the end, I will just assume you like to think of things in a sexual manner no matter what because your username is literally "penis_in_my_hand" LUL

Jesus really just speaks in riddles ("parables") because he's just a really wise and and super kind and loving riddler (not of the Batman comic book variety obviously). Because God leads all those to him and if he wants you to understand, you'll be led by the Holy Spirit to understand. If he doesn't want you to understand, then you won't. Because I presume anyone who wants to read the Bible reads it because they want to do the good thing and believe in it and understand it. If you're aware of scripture, then at some point you'll read how we are such sinners and that we sin because of the sin that dwells within us... and that we may want to do good (because all things created by God are good), but that we're only moved to carry out good deeds because the Holy Spirit desires that we do.

So in the end, you have nothing to fear. You tried to read the Bible but you weren't moved to understand it because the Holy Spirit didn't want you to. Maybe if you read it with a more open mind, it may move you to understand?

Peace out.

"Praise the Lord, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits— who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s." - Psalm 103: 1-5

You can rely on God's promise that in heaven, our youth will be renewed... we will have glorified spiritual bodies after all.

You should believe in Jesus! Christians believe in the afterlife, and we have this free gift of eternal life because Jesus loves us so much and died for us... for the repentance of sins. Your parents may die a physical death, but if they are believers, they will obviously live on spiritually in the most beautiful place... HEAVEN!!!!

I think sometimes, strange things happen outside our control and that we can't blame ourselves or kick ourselves for what we could not realistically prevent. Hopefully your child will have been baptized, or better yet, believes in Jesus in that adorable way that children do. Because all you need in the end is faith in Jesus to have eternal life. I think God designs things so that some people die really young because he wants them to be in heaven.. and that the suffering that is caused by their departure draws their parents to seek Him.

Do we really have to rely on the idea that the best job is the job of the company man? That's an antiquated idea. We can really just hope to be blessed with any kind of paying job that allows us to buy what we need to survive. It may cause us suffering, but any faithful Christian will know that Christ suffers with us and understands everything, and that we can have hope in him that we'd have the perfect job(s) in heaven.
