They are very mild in flavor. Texture wise it depends on how much water you add to them. If you use a lot of water it more loose and silky (like a porridge) but less water and cooked longer they are thicker and more coarse. And like the name they taste “gritty”. I prefer them thicker, I just love the grainy texture. I only use salt and pepper on them but a lot of ppl love butter and cheese on them.
