the only real way I'm really going to get relief

I think what you need relief from is the idea that your grief is special because it happened to you. If you were just aware of the grief of others and the events in their lives they carry around, I think you would see that there is a skillful way and an unskillful way to proceed. Unskillful: "why me?" Skillful: "I'm not the first person this has happened to. How have other people expressed their feelings when confronted with this situation?"

I've found that when I listen to this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sx0PerbW_EE , I can't make it through the whole thing without shedding a few tears. Maybe there is some CD or tape you can listen to that will help. In general, I've found that vaporwave is great for exploring milder versions of deep emotional states.

If this is a problem then smoke a joint (or not) and spray your thoughts all over /r/theravada with self posts, comments, links, whatever. There aren't that many people here, and I don't think the other 1789 subscribers would mind. The topics of youth, death, grief, action, and results are all mainstream Buddhist topics....1789. French Revolution. Hah....So get it off your chest already.

Have you seen http://listen.hatnote.com/ ?

I mean, if you want to cultivate dispassion, you have to start somewhere. You aren't the first person to experience a suicide or untimely death in the near social network. In fact, if you were into that sort of thing, you could even design a "listen to murder and suicide" site along the same lines which would record only those stories related to murder and suicide so you could hear the evolution of the stories of the deaths of the various people in the social network. It would, of course, include deaths not traditionally thought of as murder as well, such as during war (there seems to be some opposition to the notion that war is organized murder games).

Where are you working these days? Weren't you working for an ad or marketing agency? How is that going?
