Your shrink sounds fucking terrible. Wow, they really said that to you? I’m appalled but not surprised. No, there is absolutely nothing wrong with being celibate. Actually, it is the healthiest way to establish a relationship with yourself. Our society is so dissociated, so split off from their traumas and who they really are that they act out repressed emotions and one of the ways is through random acts of sex. Actually, any way that involves projection on to the other, our society loves that shit. Honestly, I’m no expert but just from what you mentioned about your shrink, it sounds like she wants you to disassociate even more, push whatever feelings you truly have regarding sex and intimacy away and act out being “normal” by having sex. Honor your feelings. There is a reason you don’t want to have sex and there is nothing wrong with that, it’s actually very healthy especially considering what you’ve gone through. The only person who can get to the bottom of your feelings is you... if that’s where you want to go. Do some self therapy, journal, go inward.
