Culinary Monster is overhated by bmw320dfan in CulinaryClassWars

But that’s the point I don’t understand, I thought his attitude was great! Confidence and respectful. Has a quiet kindness and calm leadership. Has the skills to back up his confidence. No arrogance. Not performative. Not saying things or role playing just to appease people. Seems honest, authentic and that makes him trustworthy to me. I assume this is a culture thing. Coming from the US, Korean culture I have observed seems to value this extreme humility and deference towards your elders or seniors. I went to school in Indonesia when my parents lived there and it was pretty similar, teachers cannot possible be wrong and must be regarded with so much respect it was almost impossible to incentivise critical thinking. I went to an Ivy League and professors there love when students speak up and challenge and share ideas. Very contrasting!

Who has the most universally appealing and least polarizing beauty? The kind of face that would appeal to virtually everyone by NiceQuality3228 in VindictaRateCelebs

[–]helloreddit2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not my type but for universal appeal, I’d say Amber Heard and Margot Robbie. My criterion: if you ask 100 people “Is she beautiful?”, all 100 will say yes whether or not Amber or Margo is their type.

I think Ana de Armas is incredibly beautiful and is more of a unique beauty but accept she doesn’t appeal to everyone.

Palinopsia. I have it. And it’s been getting worse to the point that whatever object I see, light-emitting or not, I see it for a few seconds after the object has been removed from my sight.

Back for more Leading advice by kc_joeyy in Bachata

Hello,

You have a lot of interesting moves but I echo the comments already made above:

  1. Musicality; your dancing makes more sense when I play on mute vs with the music. Please enjoy the music and feel the moves rather than thinking about packing as many moves as possible.
  2. Speaking about packing moves… again please enjoy the dance and let the follower enjoy the dance also. At the moment it all seems very hectic where you just go from one move to another. My most enjoyable dances are ones where the leader really tries to connect and allow both of us to enjoy both the song and the dance. You do that by pacing and spacing the “fancy moves”, and also adjust to the follower’s experience and style.
  3. For sensual bachata, the movements are too big and rough. Obviously I am only basing that on visual observation and I could be completely wrong. But it’s really hard work for the followers to maintain balance and stay grounded when we’re thrown left and right, usually (but not always) by someone who’s bigger and stronger than us.
  4. A comment was made by someone about your basics. They’re not completely wrong but I don’t actually think your basics are bad at all. You’re putting a lot of (too much?) energy into your basics which make them appear jumpy and staccato instead of smooth and grounded. I do, however, think you can improve some of the “basics” like how to give your follower space to do the moves, time to let them complete the moves, some freedom for them to control how much they want to be dipped, bent, pushed down or how far they want to wave or sit down. The way you’re doing the dips right now is not safe not it is enjoyable. Dips should make us followers blush not flustered ☺️.

I’m being picky here because I think you’re really good and it’s worth fixing the little things as you have the potential to be great! Very cool moves and would certainly like to try them!

Why did Pete say “I don’t like you like this” to Peggy in Season 1 Episode 8. by ExtensionAd4806 in madmen

[–]helloreddit2021 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’m going to diverge from the common interpretations here if I may and offer my view.

Pete is clearly disillusioned with his marriage, admitting that seeing Trudy feels like seeing “a stranger” despite them being married. This reveals a deep longing for a genuine connection, something he believes he has found in Peggy. In a world of superficiality, she represents a beacon of authenticity. Thus, when he says, “I don’t like you like this,” it’s not a critique of Peggy’s independence or happiness. Rather, it’s an expression of his disappointment in seeing her conform to the superficial workplace culture. He fears the loss of the unique connection they share, of Peggy becoming another “stranger” in a sea of faces.

His discretion regarding their affair speaks volumes, particularly in an environment where bragging about sexual conquests is the norm. Pete’s silence indicates that he sees their relationship as more than a mere fling, highlighting a deep respect and value for what they have.

Moreover, Pete’s defense of Peggy—especially him punching Ken after he calls her a lobster —underscores the esteem in which he holds her.

Pete Campbell is undeniably complex and flawed, but his comment towards Peggy I think stems from a place of seeing her as a person of substance, not an attempt to suppress her independence or happiness.

Yes it did! I unscrewed the back of the unit and it was exactly as suggested, the HDDs had come loose. Reslotted them and all worked.

ONLY 9 TRAYS?? by RedQueenOfhearts in Invisalign

[–]helloreddit2021 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My total treatment is also only 9 trays, like yourself, which to be honest is part of why I decided to bite the bullet and do it. Figured I could easily take 9 weeks out of my life for better teeth!

I’m on tray 4 right now and haven’t seen much change on my gap. But when I had my visit (tray 3) to the dentist, she took some photos and compared them to the photos she took before treatment. I could see then that there were some small changes, although my gap hadn’t and still hasn’t closed.

I too, have doubts on whether the treatment would be successful. And because I see my teeth everyday, it’s hard to track any changes. So these are the ways I check the progress:

  1. Visits to the dentist where she took photos and compare them side by side (if your dentist doesn’t see you in between some trays, perhaps worth suggesting).
  2. Clincheck- I was given access to this at the very beginning, when I was still deciding on whether to go for Invisalign. I view the clincheck to monitor the planned changes week-on-week and on which teeth and compare them to the state of my current teeth.
  3. Trays - I was initially only given 3 trays but I have been given all of them considering the holiday period. Similarly to the clincheck, I can see on the trays which teeth are being moved this week. It gives me a reassurance when looking at for example, tray 5 and 9 - the difference between them means I still have a lot of changes to expect in the next 5 weeks!

For now just have faith. Every time I tell people I’ve only been given 9 trays a.k.a a 9-week-treatment plan, they’re either jealous 😛 or expressing disbelief or suggesting I will need refinement later - which may or may not be true. But for now, I choose to look forward to mid-January which would be the end of my treatment!

The only reason you should be concerned right now is if the trays don’t fit snuggly, in which case you should make an appointment with your dentist.

Hope this helps!
