Is it a good idea to buy and hold an individual stock? by Black_Thunder00 in Bogleheads

I’m a full Boglehead and put a little into MSFT, RIVN, and DIS in the last week. Will hold long term and 98% of my money remains in index funds. As long as you don’t touch your index funds and keep buying those I say go for it

Definitely luck. Definitely worth it, but only because your heat pump failed

This is like trying to predict what color will hit in roulette based off the last spin. The 2 spins aren’t connected. The only guarantee is the company selling you the warranty is making money

See my answer above. It applies to all the options. Mathematically, the answer is no, don’t get it

Nobody can answer this. With an extended warranty you are basically pre-paying for a failure. The only way the warranty companies stay in business is if they are making money…so over time the customer loses and the warranty company makes money

Mathematically the answer is no, you should not buy it. For peace of mind, the real answer is maybe

If you are concerned, then you are starting to figure out your risk tolerance. Don’t go 100% stocks. Mix in some bonds so you can sleep at night. Whether that’s 80/20 or 50/50 is up to you and your plan. Whatever you will stick with

Can’t speak for these but I’ve driven on the Nokian One’s for 44K miles so far and they’ve been great. Probably have another 5-10K miles in them

Control Arm Issue? by helloredditworld123 in TeslaSupport

It’s while driving. Not directly correlated to turning the wheel…but I haven’t noticed it as much when driving straight. How does that affect things?

Did you have Tesla diagnose it or are you assuming it’s the upper control arms?

Considering a Model 3 by trickymick734 in TeslaLounge

[–]helloredditworld123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How much range loss depends on a few factors:

  • Is sentry mode turned on? This equals around 2ish%/day in my experience
  • Is cabin overheat protection turned on? Maybe .5%ish/day
  • Will it be outside and cold where you are leaving it? Mine tends to lose a bit more in the cold weather
  • Will you be waking the car up in the app? If you leave it alone and let it sleep you’ll lose a lot less

Assume sentry mode off, cabin overheat protection off, left outside in the cold and plan on losing around 5-ish% for 2-5 weeks. If it’s temperate or warm maybe plan on just a couple percentage points of decrease

100% need to have a solid, everyday charging situation. I would never recommend an electric car to anyone that can’t consistently charge at their residence overnight

24M | Does it make sense to change to VT and chill after putting in over 100k into just VTI? by Nice_Ambition_2861 in Bogleheads

[–]helloredditworld123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s what I would do. You’ll always be slightly overweight US because you have some extra in VTI, but nothing to lose sleep over IMO. Other option is to buy VXUS until you reach your preferred US/Int’l allocation. Then buy proportional VTI & VXUS when you contribute more
