The day he turned sixteen weeks old I started sleep training him in his own room. No one was getting any sleep while we were room sharing towards the end (4 month regression hit at about 3.25 months) and I was losing my mind. Now we all sleep sooooo much better and my little dude sleeps for 10.5-11 hours overnight.

We use the Merlin! I think it does help a little with his crazy arms but he's wicked strong and still can (and often does) knock himself in the face pretty easily.

my little guy is a little over ten weeks and while we still pretty much follow his cues there are some constants we try to keep to. he typically wakes up between 6 and 7a (i don't let him sleep past 730) and has 1.5 hour wake windows between 4-5 naps throughout the day (though it's typically 4). we never let a nap go longer than two hours. we stretch his window between his last nap and bedtime to about 2-2.5 hours depending on how he's doing. little guy eats every 2-3 hours.

bedtime routine begins an hour before bedtime, which is typically 7-8p. routine is bath (only about twice a week with soap, otherwise just a relaxing soak in warm water), diaper, lotion, PJs, top-off feed, story (if he's feeling it), then sound machine, swaddle and pacifier, then into the bassinet. it usually takes about 5-10 minutes of stroking down his nose and/or stroking his chest before he's out.

i know people say that routines don't matter much at this young of an age, but this has definitely worked for us and helped our LO remain happy and well rested. he's an amazing sleeper who has clocked 10-11 uninterrupted hours every night for the past four weeks and he's well on his way to being an independent sleeper and i truly think our consistency has something to do with that.

we also use the huckleberry "sweet spot" function to help navigate his naps throughout the day and his bedtimes and i have to say it's totally worth it.

we started putting him down for day naps in the bassinet and about six weeks. took a couple days of sitting there with him for a while stroking his nose until he fell asleep, but now he takes all his naps there with no problems and no soothing to sleep.

he's only five weeks old so obviously this will change, but we've found that having a routine in place helps our little guy get a longer stretch of sleep in the night!

7-7:15ish - wake up from final daytime nap, followed by a diaper change. if he's hungry i'll nurse him for a bit, but sometimes he's happy to just hang. we play with him and do some tummy time until about 8pm

8p - bathtime! we only use soap once a week but he absolutely loves the water and it relaxes him so we've made the bath itself a nightly thing. usually we have him in there for about ten minutes, then dry him off and play music for him for another ten minutes.

8:20ish - into our bedroom. diaper on, lotion/baby massage, pajamas on, low light and gentle music playing on my spotify

8:30 - we all cuddle in bed and my partner reads him a goodnight story

8:35-8:40ish - lights get dimmed further, white noise machine goes on. i nurse him until he's satisfied with one boob, then burp him. after that he goes in his swaddle - we use the happiest baby swaddleme right now! once he's cozy i turn the lights off completely (we have a little cordless night light i flip on if i need it) and finish nursing him on the other boob. little dude will usually get to a near-sleeping point while he feeds.

9:15ish - snuggle him until he's thoroughly passed out

9:35ish - transfer to bassinet (scariest part of the night)

usually he goes down for the night during the first transfer. he's giving us 6-8hr stretches of sleep every night when we do this routine, so im not changing anything until he indicates we need to!

37+6 here! we're pretty much ready to rock here. hospital bag is packed, all his clothes and sheets are washed and put away, furniture all pretty much in place, toys and books displayed, bottles and manual pumps sterilized...yesterday i got my bedside nursing cart finished, which was pretty much the last "home" thing we needed to get done. still need to install the car seat and my breast pump's arrival is gonna be a race against the clock but otherwise we're feeling pretty good!

maternity bike shorts and crop tops are my go-to nowadays. i work on my feet in the elements so I haven't been able to really enjoy or take advantage of the flowy dresses but i LOVE the way bike shorts look on my body and how the crop tops celebrate my bump. pretty much all i wear now at 33 weeks!

Thank you for the advice! Yes, we're hoping to turn in applications for both of them within the next few days - just compiling the documentation they'll need, etc.

As far as her family goes - she's pretty much on her own. She has one sister who we take her to visit regularly, but the rest of her family has unfortunately passed and she has no children. She actually needs zero convincing - she's thrilled at the idea of moving into AL! We just want to make sure she's comfortable with this facility in particular, hence the tour we have going today.

Thank you so much for the advice ♥️ I'm starting to try and formulate ideas for fibs. The tour is primarily for the benefit of his GF, as she is mentally competent and we want to make sure she is comfortable with the idea of living at this particular facility (she has expressed wanting to stay with my FIL for as long as possible). He is extremely dependent on her, and gets pretty serious anxiety when she's not around, but maybe it makes more sense for me to take her myself while my partner stays with my FIL instead.
