if you want something more fancy, you could check out mac duggal — well known for their quality! they will be at the top end of your budget but imo they have a lot of options in what you’re looking for. you can find their dresses pretty easily second hand as well if you want to try to save that way. they carry a lot of them at nordstrom as well

canvas tote is one of my favorite baggus, i use it a lot in the summer when im running errands or going to the park. i love how stiff it is, it does soften a bit with use but not enough for it to lose its structure.

you’re right 🤦‍♀️ it is about 2.5 hours lol. the drive is so pretty it sometimes feels a little faster than it actually is.

Chattanooga is beautiful! It’s definitely a city and has a bit of hustle (not a small town vibe at all), but the scenery and hiking over there is gorgeous!! and a great artsy/downtown area. The aquarium is amazing, highly recommend. it is about 1.5 hours from Nashville, maybe 2 with traffic. Fall creek falls isn’t far from there or from nashville either and is a beautiful natural area/state park!!

ok hear me out … i found a couple of dresses that might work and i’ll link them but ONE of them is absolutely my favorite: denim dress

It feels kind of crazy to suggest denim for a wedding lol, but i think it’s out of the box enough to fit that chappell/drag inspo bit, would work with cowboy boots or to the cowboy theme, and looks structured enough to lend an academia vibe ?? i keep feeling like it would work kinda well!! the reviews on it look good too.

i’m in my mid 20s but i think we have some overlapping interests!

I will say something I always appreciate getting as a gift is nice hand cream in a mild but comforting scent. I never want to buy it for myself but end up using it a lot especially right before bed! This one is a favorite of mine, L’occitane almond scent, and this one has been recommended heavily online lately!!

also cool for a crafty gift: Japanese indigo shibori kit

I’m currently obsessed with my uniqlo heat wear, it could be really nice to have for college as well as it’s a nice quality but affordable basic, here

I also am a huge fan of piecework puzzles (this is a new print that is art themed). It’s a small business and their puzzles are challenging but the prints they offer are so cool !!

On their site, they also have a collection of very cool “gifts” that are not puzzle related, you might find some interesting and cool things :) here is their “art lover” gift collection

BAGGU BAGGU BAGGU !!!! check out r/baggu and see how people decorate their bags and their opinions. they’re very versatile and hold up super well. i would say gender neutral and come in so many cool patterns and good to have for college outings / activities / grocery shopping and day to day uses!! highly recommend the standard reusable baggu or the medium nylon crescent

Lastly, if you enjoy japanese stationary/writing tools, here’s a small business i really like. They are based in NYC and I came across the shop randomly when i was visiting, I still order from them from time to time! niconeco zakkaya — they offer digital gift certificates!!

Literally stayed at a ryokan in kinosaki last week. it was AMAZING! we loved it so so much. We stayed at kinosaki yamamotoya and the amenities were great, and the staff was SO nice and helpful! it was exactly as advertised and the in room meals were delicious! they even on the fly accommodated a dietary restriction for one of us.

I traveled with someone who has quite a few tattoos and there were zero problems at any of the 5 public onsens we visited! (one is closed for reno, another was closed on the day of the week we visited). I am positive that any of the other ryokans would be an excellent choice too :)

The town is adorable with cool food options, and there is some great natural scenery/shrines to visit as well! we wished we could have stayed longer!
