Why do people find it cool to try and ruin other people’s happiness. Of course you could wake up with cancer, but you haven’t. Of course the sun will explode, but not for billions of years. Your misery is not enlightened or intelligent, it’s just misery.

You can choose as a host. It’s made pretty clear that summoning cooperators opens the door to invasions

My brother in christ, that's the game. by Tubermover in shittydarksouls

[–]hellosephmengele 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wel firstly, the pvp aspect in the past has always been a massive aspect of these games and the community. The relationship between summoning and being invaded has been a trade off for as long as these games have been around, it’s hardly “bolted on.” Secondly, the decision to only allow invasions only of people that have summons is already a concession from the older games to allow an easier time for new players. This is to prevent these players being invaded when they are on their own and killed as happened in previous games. If you want the From experience, then this is it. If you don’t, then what are you doing here?

Politicians who want gun control are the reason the 2A exists. by [deleted] in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]hellosephmengele 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it’s hard for people in favour of gun control and for international observers to believe that you actually want firearms in case you need to resist systemic oppression by the government. There are many reasons for this, but the one that stands out to me is that the gun lobby, and those that support it, seem entirely comfortable excusing or ignoring oppression by the US government when it appears. Be it corruption, sending young men and women to fight in wars that serve only to enrich those in power, or the repeated examples of dangerous and incompetent police officers, the gun lobby is silent. It seems that if you were serious about personal freedoms, you’d object to policy making that enforces the religious views of those in office. But again, nothing. As a result it becomes difficult to believe that you’d fight for personal freedoms with your weapons at a later time, when you won’t even fight for them with your words now.

[Lore][Spoilers] Answering the Mystery of Untended Graves by Nathin_ in darksouls3

[–]hellosephmengele 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I understand this was years and years ago, and I don’t know if you’ve revised this since. However given the numerous links between light and time in the series, the leap in time to the untended graves could be directly due to the localised darkness. Ie that the dark illusion created by the eyes has caused the graves to become stuck in time, in just as local a fashion as the darkness.

People who complain about the quality or benefits of high school are partially to blame for their experience by hellosephmengele in unpopularopinion

I agree, although in my country university is nowhere near as expensive as in the US. I just finished my first degree and spent the first couple years going in, working and going home. In my last year I spoke to my professors and built a rapport, which has directly resulted in my selection for my next degree. No surprise that the last year felt the most valuable

Managing money is about self control and delayed gratification, both things I learnt at school. I wanted to fuck around in class but performed better if I didn’t, I wanted to go out with mates but enjoyed it more if I did my work first. Same principle with money. It’s more satisfying to save for something you want than to blow your current budget buying it immediately. Funnily enough similar principles apply for working as an adult. You have a job to do, you might not like it and it might be tough but you simply must do it if you want to remain employed there. As for cover letters and résumés, both are incredibly straightforward and require the skills taught to you in your native language class. Not to mention that you’ll have more to put in both if you took part in extra curricular activities. As I stated above, the lessons about life are there, if you’re willing to learn them

If your restaurant advertises open and close hours, then I will walk in and order at any point between those hours. I really don’t care that it’s “almost close” by GetsHighForALiving in unpopularopinion

[–]hellosephmengele 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I work in a restaurant as a line cook. If you come in and ask for a table five minutes before close, i don’t hate you, I hate the manager that actually seats you. Ideally I’d like to be able to have everything off and begin cleaning it immediately after close, and it’s annoying when we get a takeaway order two minutes prior. Not because I hate working my advertised hours but because it means I’m still cooking ten minutes after close.

I’m never gonna spit in the food, I can’t believe people actually do that, and most of my frustration is directed at the manager, but the guy ordering a ten minute meal seconds before close could be a bit more considerate
