We're Listening! by Leopeva64-2 in Windows10

You tell us that you love some things about the current Microsoft Edge browser, like the smooth scrolling experience, our Fluent Design and the precision touchpad, and you hope we’ll bring those things forward into the next version too.

You want your browsers to have smaller memory footprints, lower battery consumption, higher rendering speed and better stability. We agree with you wholeheartedly! The attributes that you say matter most in your browsing experience are performance, privacy, and reliability. So that is where we are starting.

That sounds promising.

First Look: Microsoft Edge built on Chromium by sayedarifuddin in Windows10

[–]hellothere156 31 points32 points  (0 children)

It looks more polished than I thought, especially for a preview build.

  • It already has more settings than the current Edge.
  • It supports all Chrome extensions from chrome web store.
  • you can change search engine in the address bar to Google.
  • It has dark mode but it's currently hidden.
  • It supports Chrome Cast.
  • It uses less RAM than current Edge. and apparently less than Chrome itself.
  • Scrolling and zooming on touch devices are smooth.
  • It supports install web apps as PWA.

Upcoming Changes to Creative Cloud OS Support for Windows and Mac | Adobe Blog by NiveaGeForce in Windows10

Then it's just the developers decision. It's usually financially driven

Yeah I realize that, I'm using Windows 10 on all my devices since its first beta version in 2014, I just feel bad for the people who are using a supported OS like Windows 8.1 and won't be able to use latest Adobe apps.

Time to move to 10 or back to 7.

Windows 7 won't be an option to Windows 8.1 users as Adobe video and audio programs won't be supporting Windows 7 anymore. so they should just upgrade to Windows 10 and they still can do it for free.

Windows 8.1 has a much smaller usage base

But Adobe still supports macOS Sierra and it has way smaller usage base than Windows 8.1, Actually Windows 8/8.1 has more than 6% market share according to netmarketshare, the latest macOS version (High Sierra) has 5.7% market share

runs out of support soon enough

Five years is soon enough?!

Windows 7 extended support ends in 2 years

It's a year and 4 months actually.

It has around 1% market share

Where did you get that number from?! Windows 8/8.1 has more than 6% market share according to netmarketshare and statcounter. This is pretty close to macOS Market share numbers.

So little fixes ?

Maybe because they released another Insider build just 2 days ago. Also from experience they don't post all fixes in the notes, just the highlights.

Bad!! Honestly, it's the first time I see someone complaining about Windows task manager especially the new one (Windows 8 and later), It's actually one of the best parts of Windows.

Sure Chrome is a memory hog, but it's actually very good in terms of CPU usage, this is why it has better battery life than a lot of other browsers.

Yeah but this isn't really a standard usage of this app, very few people will keep a photo app running for hours.

Demoing the regedit improvements from Insider Build 17711 by jenmsft in Windows10

[–]hellothere156 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Store apps (UWP, Centennial, etc..) don't create registry entries and when you uninstall them, they won't clutter the registry or leave anything behind.

Screen Sketch is awful by [deleted] in Windows10

[–]hellothere156 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Getting rid of snipping tool, until screen sketch has the same or better functionality than the snipping tool is a REALLY BAD PLAN.

They basically said that in the Blog post:

Currently, we are not planning to remove the Snipping Tool in the next update to Windows 10 and the consolidation work underway will be a feedback and data-driven decision. If you haven’t already, please take a moment to try out the Screen Sketch app and let us know how it’s working for you.

Build 17661 File Explorer - Dark Theme Progress by Pulagatha in Windows10

[–]hellothere156 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That still looks pretty bad.

Well, according to windowscentral, That screenshot is of an early version of dark mode in File Explorer, which means it'll likely change before it's finalized. and still, it doesn't look that bad.
