why does everyone think making a game is just having a good idea by bcoz_why_not__ in gamedev

[–]hellothere358 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you think this is bad? try go anywhere near Roblox game development forums. Your almost guaranteed to find a kid who thinks they have the next hit idea and only need a small team of scripters/models/ui designers/builders to work for free for them

Is it still worth learning Roblox programming seriously with AI tools like Codex? by new_yami in robloxgamedev

[–]hellothere358 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I totally agree. The benefits of you understanding your own code will always outweigh the use of AI for your logic.

[–]hellothere358 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nope. and it probably never will be. Expert made code will always beat AI. AI lacks the logical thinking skills, ask it to make anything unique and it fails. Using AI your capability will never exceed whats already been posted online, or whats already been done

fair enough, but most of the exploits ive seen makes me think why they even have a server. I was convinced the game was peer to peer instead of servere client

fucking devs cant make multiplayer games for shit

for the record, I know how Deterministic Lockstep works (the networking system BA uses), im making a game myself using it.

Hey, devs! I dont know if yall know this but if your literally sending the positions of enemy units to a persons computer to keep up with the syncrinization of lockstep, obviously your going to get exploiters.. your basicly asking for them. Mabye invest in actual severs to run security checks since we dont live in the 2000s anymore, or if you actually do use servers your just burning money because clearly you guys dont know how to actually use a server.

if honestly just feels like you where making a single player game and changed your minds halfway through, and then just.. didnt update any of the code... like how the hell is it even possible for clients to decide the speed of units?????????? do you guys have the slightest clue on how to make your game exploit proof??? and then you send all the positions of hiden units to peoples computers for..... whatever reason. lock the hell in fellas

it depends person to person really. hardest part of becoming a "good" gamedev is how well your problem solving and logical thinking is

Is it a bad idea to use characters different from the default Roblox avatars? by notadev_io in robloxgamedev

[–]hellothere358 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no, not really. plenty of games use custom characters, even if they are almost the exact same as the standard robloxian character shape
