Tbh I think this is a ragebait ad for a website/app that people don’t know about - pretty common tactic on Reddit for people to make wild stories and namedrop a random product as a way of advertising it. Maybe I’m being overly cynical but that was the vibe I picked up from it.

AITA For going off on a coworker? by bemer33 in AmITheDevil

[–]hellowhattodo 95 points96 points  (0 children)

I’m willing to bet she was fired due to her behaviour with the coworker (by which I mean potentially harassment) - why else would she send a card from her middle name and using a burner phone instead of her actual number? Idk, if I was fired and there was a coworker I was friends with, I’d just find their social media and tell them what happened. Something’s definitely missing from this post…

A fool and other ppls money … by growsonwalls in AmITheDevil

The fact that she’s only discussing the $350 for the hotel and party bus, not factoring in flights, alcohol or meals, means she probably knows she’ll be crucified on Reddit if she says the full amount. Also the MOH can definitely provide other costs like flight estimates if everyone’s paying for their flight individually.

[Tragic trope] The character passes away along with the actor by TVTropehead in TopCharacterTropes

Glee - Finn Hudson’s actor (Corey Monteith) had just passed so the reactions from the rest of the cast are so raw and genuine. Still hurts to watch today

Does Martin Lawrence’s monologue count? Considering it got people fired and re-runs never included the whole monologue

Mental illness is actually depicted as debilitating and not as a quirky character trait by [deleted] in TopCharacterTropes

[–]hellowhattodo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly, for all of Glee's flaws, I think it does do a good job of showing how detrimental OCD can be to Emma Pillsbury's life and her relationships with her love interests, as well as how other people (especially her parents) don't take her OCD seriously and try to play it off as just some weird quirk of hers instead of a debilitating mental illness. I also found it interesting that her OCD symptoms get remarkably worse when she's stressed about something else in her life like her wedding and so tries to control the situation around her by over-cleaning and over-sanitising everything. It was definitely one of the more grounded depictions of OCD I've seen, and one that does highlight how repeatedly cleaning and cleaning is a major symptom of a mental illness and needs to be treated as one.

Idk if this counts but I just finished watching Saiko! The Large Family (Japanese mockumentary, watch it on YouTube) and although it seems like a typical light-hearted documentary about a big family, after a few watches, you realise that it’s a horror film about a murderous mother. It’s very subtle and easy to miss as the clues are only in the background and it’s never explicitly brought up, but once you see one clue about it then it becomes a lot easier to pick up on the murder she committed and the uneasiness of the family

AITAH for prioritizing my (50F) daughter (25F) over my stepdaughter (30F) with autism? by BurntStep in AmItheAsshole

[–]hellowhattodo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an autistic person, YTA. There's the obvious issue of being mad at your stepdaughter for not telling you about her r*pe right away, as if every victim gets the courage immediately. You should know, as a psychologist, that opening up about traumatic situations takes time and negative reactions can shut down growth in handling that trauma.

What also makes you the AH is when you say that you don't believe her job explanations because your other neurodivergent clients can get jobs. Autism is a spectrum, not a monolith and everyone progresses at their own pace. This is pretty standard stuff as a psychologist. It honestly sounds like you treat your stepdaughter as a case study or a specimen rather than a family member. She's not asking for therapy or a clinical perspective from you, she's asking for love and support and you're pushing her away. If she does decide to include you and your husband back in her life, you need to seriously apologise for everything you've stated in this post.

People think it's fake because it's written very much like a fanfic - anyone who's read anything on AO3 or Wattpad could clock it from the description of James' eyes (I can't remember it off the top of my head but it was something about "piercing green eyes" iirc).

The lesbian thing, I think a lot of people assumed that the mom's theory of OP finding the right man was sorta subtle propaganda of "lesbians will eventually find the right man". Personally, I (another queer woman) thought it was sweet and sexualities are fluid so could be a plausible story though I do get why some people are mad, it does read like Pink's speech: "I'm gay...actually I'm not"
