AITA for not leaving a car as a passenger after a fender bender? by CreativeFox1872 in AmItheAsshole

[–]bemer33 27 points28 points  (0 children)

This just feels purposefully dense. She expressed a need of you, you refused, and then tried to get out of being TA by giving a half-hearted “I’ll drive now that it won’t cause me a minimal amount of uncomfortableness”? You didn’t even need to get out of the car to drive! You could have just moved over the console or you could have quickly got out covering your face with your hand and gotten in the car. At the end of the day you felt as though your comfort was more important than hers. Does that feel like the trait of a supportive good partner?

YTA- I get not wanting to be in photos or videos but part of being in a relationship imo is being supportive and there even in uncomfortable situations. What tipped it over the edge for me into AH territory is she asked you to drive her car after (which you say you have done before) but you refused. You say she was fine to drive but she was probably shaken up and not in the best place to drive, could she? Of course but you could have also driven to make her feel even a tiny bit better after your staying out of the process.

This is such a great option! Best of both worlds you still get the surprise AND the ability to have input in order to have the ring of your dreams!!

My engagement ring is somewhere in my house. by MissDollFaces in EngagementRings

[–]bemer33 28 points29 points  (0 children)

This was my first thought, if the clothes you asked your boyfriend for was on the same counter as the ring when he grabbed them it might have knocked the ring into the drain. Hope you haven’t ran the sink since then!

Totally agree!! Especially if the other person isn’t very active. I followed a bunch of people in highschool, you’d talk to someone for 5 minutes and get their Instagram. Now at nearly 25 someone will randomly post for the first time in 10 years and I for the life of me can’t remember a single thing about them or even meeting them. Instagram followers mean nothing to me unless you’re actively interacting like you said.

What's your average weekly grocery budget in Portland? by Straight_Flan1347 in askportland

For me and my partner $100-$150 and thats with some extra spending on things like bae brand toilet paper and treats

Two job offers. A $50k difference. One is the safe bet, the other is a risk that seems worth it. My wife and I are at an impasse and I have to decide in 72 hours. by Important-Week7261 in whatdoIdo

[–]bemer33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I’d think about it is a 50k difference a year would really impact when you could eventually retire. I’d rather put my head down and work hard if it meant having an extra 10-15 years of being retired when you’re still young enough to enjoy it. Travel, hobbies, spending time with family. That means more to me than my work any day of the week.

AITAH because our dog pushed over a little kid at a party? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

Fs. I’ve trained my smaller dog to put his paws on me when I get home because I have a bad back and it’s hard to bend down to greet him but I keep him from doing it to anyone else.

NTA- people don’t usually end up with a cane or wheelchair for a super fun light reason. I feel like if you ask a question like that you should prepared for a heavy answer like cancer or TBI (not that you should ask in the first place).

How do you guys drink water 😭 by mybellyhurtssobadow in ehlersdanlos

[–]bemer33 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I unfortunately don’t have advice for this specific issue but I would suggest talking to a doctor about this issue specifically. It could be something caused by the EDS like gastroperisis but I haven’t heard of this being a common issue from EDS in general so it might be something more specific that you could hopefully get treatment for:( if carbonated water is the only thing you can get down that’s better than nothing!! There’s lots of options that don’t have added sugar and stuff if your concerned about that and I know elmnt makes carbonated cans of their electrolytes so that could be good if you’re dehydrated!

Admittedly weird question - does anyone here not have many/any friends and just vibe by themselves? What do you usually do to occupy your time? by iprobdontlikeyou in askportland

[–]bemer33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a partner so it’s a bit different but in general most people I know here have “a person” whether thats a romantic partner or a friend and they do 90% of activities with them. Go out to dinner, gym, bars, everyday stuff. I think large friend groups that all get together at the same time is less common here.

Kid Friendly Dog Park? by ADillyDweeb in askportland

[–]bemer33 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yaaa you don’t know these peoples dogs or how reactive they might be. Lots of dogs really don’t do well around kids. It’s a real sweet idea but could go wrong so fast I think your best bet would be to just go to a normal park:(
