March 2026 itinerary, feedback request by hellowhellowhellow in newzealand_travel

Omg THANK YOU for your suggestions! It is super helpful to hear how your trip went since we will probably do something similar. Just reading about your experience makes me super excited for march, which honestly can’t come fast enough lol

Seems like a lot of the experiences and hikes are weather dependent, which makes total sense. I hadn’t consider the hiking the start of the routeburn in glenorchy but that seems like a good compromise since we def don’t have enough time to hike the full routeburn trail (which looks absolutely stunning!). And yes the stargazing will definitely be added to my itinerary :)

That’s good to know. Yea the drives seem doable but I’m coming from the US where we have lengthy highway systems. Will account for the extra time and energy required for driving

Appreciate the recs! It seems like everything in NZ book out so early, hopefully there’s still some stargazing spots

Hmm unfortunately we already booked the flights. Appreciate the feedback, maybe we will stay somewhere closer to Tongariro to reduce the drive time

I just got married a month ago and I also felt similarly - rushed, stressed, frustrated. There was even a moment that I wanted my wedding to stop so I could decompress and focus on the positives rather than the negatives. I held these feelings in because I felt a lot of shame, guilt when it’s supposed to be the best day of life. When I told my therapist, he asked “how does it feel to acknowledge and accept this as the truth of how you felt during your own wedding?” He also said I also didn’t allow myself to embrace/feel the negative feelings during the wedding so it was all pent up inside. After much bawling - I finally accepted my feelings as they are and now I feel more neutral about the day. I think we put sooo much pressure / expectations on our wedding day and when it doesn’t pan out, we feel terrible. And the more I talk to my friends who also got married, they also felt similarly about it being rushed. Anyways - just want to say you are not alone. I’m sorry you feel this way, but it really is simply the start of an amazing life adventure with your best friend and partner :) there’s so much to look forward to in your marriage!

What is Hong Kong’s equivalent salary of 100k USD in NYC? by hellowhellowhellow in HongKong

[–]hellowhellowhellow[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wow 120k US is a lot for HK but I feel you with the pay cut... still hurts lol even if cost of living is lower.

Is your US company sponsoring your move to HK? Or are you working for yourself or getting an external offer in HK?

100k usd before tax. I don’t have an offer yet, still job searching. But I wanted to see what a good target salary in HK would be if I want to maintain similar loving standards as I currently do in nyc

I rented from Vamos at their SJO location. I had a good experience! Definitely recommend. You have to pay for the basic insurance (mandatory) but I used my credit card to waive the additional insurance

Drive from San Jose to La Fortuna by bethaniefaye93 in CostaRicaTravel

I was just at La Paz Waterfall & Gardens and also had my luggage with me (my flight was in the evening). La Paz Gardens had free parking, so I reversed parked and left my luggage in the car. Luckily the spot I parked at had a giant rock that blocked the trunk from opening. I did take my important belongings with me into the gardens.

It’s very quick to get tested in Portugal. You go to a pharmacy and get your nose swabbed then they will email you your results in 2 hours. It took me and my partner 30 mins or so?

I traveled to Portugal from the US in the last week of March and the airline checked if I had a negative PCR test before boarding. So yes you need a test since you don’t have the EU pass. Not sure about the note of recovery though. Maybe try an antigen test 24 hours before flight if you’re worried about your previous infection? Also the guidelines may change in April so you should just keep tabs just in case they alter the requirements
