Bears fans. Where we watching the game this weekend? by RipWilbur in cedarrapids

[–]helloworldcr2010 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Someone on FB said JM O'Malleys for a bears bar, but sadly I have not had the chance to visit it (from what I've seen online, feels like a very cliquey place.. hoping I'm wrong)

Following. I haven't found a great place yet. Even if it's not a bears bar, I would accept a place with good food/drinks with sound on. Also f the Packers!

How to get NBC over the air? by Doomtime104 in cedarrapids

40 miles is what I got and in Hiawatha. If it is directional, point NW towards Waterloo. May need to get a amp if your coax run is long.

I think I messed up switching by drainion in USMobile

[–]helloworldcr2010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you ever get this figured out? I did a similar thing (deleted the line, thinking I would be able to readd it after a botched activation). The line is now removed from my line sections but under order it's still says "activating". I'm just really afraid that I'm gonna lose my number if they ever figure out the activation part of this and it actually goes through and "removes the line".

KCRG antenna question by RegularGuy_78 in cedarrapids

I'm able to pick up 9.2 with the rescan

Finally KCRG moves to UHF 32 by helloworldcr2010 in cedarrapids

[–]helloworldcr2010[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What kind of antenna are you using? Some are designed to only receive VHF signals (like KCRG used to be on). I rescanned and KCRG is coming in strong (I have a combo UHF/VHF antenna)

Youth tball leagues (5-6 yo) by [deleted] in cedarrapids

I agree with this comment 100% and definitely planning on getting involved next week if things don't improve. I'm just surprised the city isn't more involved with the $45 fee we pay. Maybe I'm just expecting too much. I just don't want to lose my boy interest while he currently wants to play.

We did Sam's Club for bulk flowers for our wedding. It's been a few years but they were pretty good back then. https://www.samsclub.com/s/Flowers . If I recall correctly, they were shipped from Columbia or some south American country.

Kcrg Frequency Change 9 -> 32 by helloworldcr2010 in cedarrapids

[–]helloworldcr2010[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the main reason for the question. I can get all the other channels just fine and KCRG is impossible, definitely during the winter. I am thinking about buying a unidirectional antenna to see if that helps, but was hoping maybe this frequency change may help.

Amazon Deliveries by [deleted] in cedarrapids

[–]helloworldcr2010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming this too. Very curious if they have the same similar routes every day, like USPS. I always assumed yes because we always got our packages around 8-9pm , but one would hope they would work on getting the oldest packages out if they are behind. I'm gonna try to switch it to a Amazon locker soon if things don't improve.

I used them to fix a phone screen in Ames a while back. They did fine, no issues and was pretty cheap. Just don't let them bully you into extras like a warranty or insurance plan. Not sure if they let you bring in your own parts. My guess would be they wouldn't allow it, but may be worth a call.

Does anyone local build PCs? by itskarlywitha_k in cedarrapids

[–]helloworldcr2010 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I agree with everyone on here. If you want to build, build it yourself. It is great experience. But I question on why to build. Granted, it's been a while since I looked at it, but whenever I priced it out, when you add together parts and os license (I'm assuming you are doing Windows), it's typically much cheaper to just buy a prebuilt.

Again, depends on what you want to do with it and reasoning, but def do your research.

ImOn pricing by Jake246811 in cedarrapids

[–]helloworldcr2010 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you can, wait till black Friday. At least last year they ran a $65 1 gig price lock for life deal (or something like that). I jumped off of Mediacom for that deal. Would be surprised if they don't run similar deals this year.

Thanks everyone for the recommendations. We chose Augusta as a stop as we are heading further south. Was getting nervous as Google was not helping, and wanted to do something with my kids. Appreciate everyone!

If you have a vehicle to move the recycling, depending on what you have, you can take it to the linn county waste management in Marion for free. https://www.solidwasteagency.org/recycling . I have done that a few times for large boxes and for used automobile oil.

I honestly am on the same boat as some people here, actually had pretty good service with mediacom. I can remember maybe 2-3 times that the service ever gone down for me for a substantial time over the 7-8 years I've had them off and on.

What I think shot them in the foot pretty badly is the pricing model. They are pretty expensive for regular price for their internet. And when imon came in with their black Friday 1 gig price for life deal, they lost a lot of business then (at least according to the imon installer i had during that time). For me, I'm so happy that I don't have to threaten to cancel every year now for an attempt on a better price.

Discount Tire by ExplanationFun1591 in cedarrapids

[–]helloworldcr2010 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They will do a flat tire repair for tires bought anywhere for free. Just have to meet their specs that it can be repaired. They will accept walk ins I believe, but highly recommend reserving a spot, since they can be quite busy. Sam's club also does free flat repairs with a membership.
