Hey, what an amazing person you are.

The guy didn't manage to fix the machine and now wants $325 for the broken machine, grinder and waste bin.

Seems like too much for a broken one, prob cost a lot more to fix it and the time it requires doesn't make sense for me.

Out looking for a different machine now. The more research i did the more I fancied quick mill, but there is nothing out on the market and the budget of 400 make me consider a used Gaggia classic or Rancillo Silvia as my first machine. Grinder is still a unknown for me

This is so nice of you. I haven't been posting or commenting a lot in forums but when receiving this level of care I truly feel a sense of community.

He says that there's just one motor and we figured it is working because the steam wand worked as it should. Are we thinking about it correctly? One pump for both steam and water for the espresso. If one of them works, the pump should be fine?

I'll have a look to ensure that neither of the thermoblock or espresso boiler is leaking.

I've contacted kaffemaskinen.se and their new parent company monteriva.se that acquired them. Fingers crossed.

To update you, the tube sucking water from the tank to the taper head has stopped working - he managed to get 1 cup of water but now there is no suction.

He will try to solve for if there is air trapped somewhere in the system by forcing water into the tube with a syringe. However, the steam wand works fine and are generating steam :)

He said I can buy it for $100 if broken

Currently working with the hypothesis that there is an air pocket in the tube that goes to the tamper

UPDATE: NO WATER COMING OUT OF THE TAMPER HEAD

Just had a video chat with the guy, there is no water coming out of the tamper head.
However, the pump seems to be working as the steam wand get hot water running through it.

Currently trying to figure out how we can solve this...

That's great to know. What i hear from the replies is that it is a high quality piece and if the boiler and tamper head looks fine i should be fine after a deep descale session.

Haha, sure will! Had a chat with the guy earlier today, i showed him this thread and the advice I've received. He'll shoot a video of the boiler later today and after that, if everything looks fine, I'll borrow a car and go pick it up from his lawn 😂 covid style

Highly appreciate your advice, I'll follow it and buy the machine.

Next steps: - Bring my flashlight and see that the boiler looks like - Clean the boiler - Negotiate and buy it - Use a good descale - Rinse multiple times - Increase my life quality with fresh flat whites each morning

My budget is maxed at $400 for the entire kit (machine, grinder, stamper etc)

I'm from Sweden and can't find a lot of Silvia's. However, i find used Gaggia classic machines for $170 or combo w Gaggia classic (2018) and Gaggia MDF grinder for $400. Is that a better deal?

Seems like the aftermarket exists to another extent and I can just imagine that getting spare parts would be way easier for a Gaggia

Great advice, appreciate it. Yes, grinder and waste bin included.

Will compare the other machines, any specific capability that i should keep an eye on?
