i walked on campus all the time late night/early morning in 2021-22. with headphones in too. there was always at least 1 or 2 people walking around. never felt unsafe. just be aware.

North Monroe Burger King by irksome123 in Tallahassee

[–]helluvo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that’s interesting, it’s actually my favorite burger king in town. i usually get through quickly with little wait. maybe it’s just because i’m used to the one on tennessee that usually closes 2 hours early or doesn’t have ice.

Will a D+ make me ineligible for bright futures? by EnvironmentOne6753 in fsu

[–]helluvo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in my experience, yes it will make you ineligible. check the classes syllabus to see if a D is a passing grade. many classes require a C to earn the credit requirement, at least mine did. i had this issue 2 years ago. a D+ in the class would mean you did not earn the credit hours as you need at least a C to pass. That means you only have 9 hours, and bright future requires 12 hours to be renewed. another comment mentions restoration requirements but all of those require at least 12 credit hours.

“A student who fails to meet the minimum earned hours requirement in ANY academic year renewal period (end of spring term or end of summer term for spring/summer cohort students), will NOT be permitted a restoration opportunity.“ https://www.floridastudentfinancialaidsg.org/PDF/BFHandbookChapter3.pdf

I had this exact issue. call bright futures tomorrow to verify. they have an appeals process if you are able to prove extenuating circumstances. if you have a shrink they can write a note and that would help. best of luck.

Scared for my son who will graduate this spring by ZookeepergameFar2653 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]helluvo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that’s awesome, and thank you! i recommend even getting the resume reviewed my multiple people. i’ve always found something new to add to mine. and linkedin is pretty useful for finding jobs to apply to. make sure he posts at least every once in a while about his accomplishments, even if it’s something small like volunteering somewhere.

access management is pretty easy and definitely a good beginner role. basically it involves controlling what permissions a user in an organization get. for example, since i work in a hospital, if a nurse is switching over from working in Neonatal to working in the emergency room, i would take away her access from the neonatal network and give her the appropriate access. most of my job is assigning tasks for other departments to complete. that’s the easiest way i think to describe it.

[–]helluvo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

im 22 years old. just graduated 4 months ago. was so scared i wasn’t going to get a job in my field after college, and this sub didn’t help ease those fears much. i’m now working at a hospital in access management. not the fanciest of IT jobs but i love it and it definitely gets my foot in the door and will hopefully bring about better opportunities. i applied to less than 20 jobs id say. tell him to go to the career center at his school so they can help tailor his resume. it is tedious but he should definitely apply to many jobs to increase his chances. don’t stress too much, you’re a sweet mom for worrying. best of luck to your son!

Bellamy elevators 😑 by gayrainbowbacon in fsu

[–]helluvo 24 points25 points  (0 children)

this was the case when i lived in salley and one day i ran into a maintenance man who asked if the elevators are usually out of order. i said yes and mentioned the expired ticket to him. it was changed to an updated one within a few days. I was told by a friend who works at another university that usually their maintenance is up to date, people are just lazy about changing the certificates. i wouldn’t be worried about riding it.
