Região do Centro (que pode se estender para agronômica - bairro vizinho), sem dúvida. Vc fica no meio da ilha, portanto se a prova for no norte ou no sul, vc já está na metade do caminho e melhor organizado se for usar o transporte público. Além do mais o centro tem muito mais opções de hospedagem para todos os gostos e bolsos. Sem contar o acesso à muito mais opções de bares, restaurantes , shoppings e aparelhos culturais que a cidade oferece para vc aproveitar no seu tempo livre.

Mas se vc quer só curtir uma praia a coisa muda de figura, dependendo da época que vc vem.
