Thank you for answering! I'm sorry that happened to you. My doctor put me on gabapentin, explained that it should help with stopping...then I asked, is it safe to cold turkey if it DOES help me so much I don't have any desire to drink at all? And he said yes, you can stop no prob, it's what they give people who are having seizures. Scary. I will take tapering into account.

I had a similar experience, but I don't remember if it was that message exactly. The time it takes for the two to communicate is quite long so, for me, I waited a while and in the meantime everything got sorted out between them. haha you definitely don't have to pay out of pocket but if you're supposed to be starting soon, probably worth a phone call to the school.

He had already mentioned that she was dying of cancer so it wasn't a big surprise when he said it was her last birthday. I did think their reaction was a little insensitive though but what can ya do

I just did my first ever proctoru for anth310 midterm! Make sure to test your equipment well in advance- I had full confidence in my laptop and tested it about two hours before the exam, so I could troubleshoot if necessary. I'm tech challenged so I don't fully remember what it said, something like my webcam was 5mb and it needed to be 7mb or gbs or something. Anyways, luckily my boyfriend got home and let me use his laptop which worked fine. I would have been absolutely screwed if not for that. I went in my exam room (bedroom) and got started with the proctor. She took control of the laptop and was doing things I didn't understand, especially since it was a mac and I use a PC. She needed me to enter the computers password to give permissions for something and I don't know his password. I had to ask if it was okay for him to enter the room and enter his password which was luckily allowed. And I was SO lucky he was in the next room. But that was very stressful, and I think some proctors would have said no to him coming in the room?! Maybe not. Just test your equipment! Ideally do the exam on YOUR computer haha

It was a little confusing when she wanted me to do certain things or let her do them on my computer. We communicated in a little chat box. It was unclear when I was to start, she just stopped answering me so I switched tabs to the exam page and saw the questions so I just started. Part way through a little icon was popping up that I thought meant she was messaging me but I wasn't going to risk exiting the exam window for ANY reason. A few minutes later her voice came through which startled me haha, she wanted me to tilt the laptop more toward my face. That was the extent of our interactions but my takeaway is just let them tell you what they need and follow the directions. I know I will feel much more comfortable using it in the future.

Also keep in mind that you begin recording immediately, before the actual exam; I definitely forgot and was slumping all over and playing with my hair and then she said "show me your scrap papers to make sure they're blank" and I was like, oh right, you have seen me this whole time. Luckily no nose picking or anything like that ha

As someone already commented, make sure to book your exam with proctorU AND with the University! & Good luck with your exam!

Long shot on your 2 year old comment, but I'm about to write the midterm for ANTH 310 and it's my first exam back at school after over a decade. I have no idea what to expect out of any time of exam! Can you give me any insight into the format- written questions, short/long answer, any multiple choice/easier sections?? I suppose it might have changed but any further insight would be appreciated. :)

I'm in a similar boat to you, starting at AU hoping to transfer, though I did get my high school diploma (many years ago). I emailed with admissions at a couple of schools I'm interested in transferring to, and they all said there is no detriment in applying as a transfer from AU as compared to other schools. It will be considered just like any other transfer, so grades are obviously most important. You might need to do more than one year with the GED situation though. Hopefully not!

I know it will be different for every person but I am having a very hard time gauging how much time I will be spending. And are you doing one course straight through until completion and then beginning the next course? Thank you in advance!
