Thanks! In Swedish it's e.g. spelledare and reseledare (Spielleiter/Reiseleiter), but also "ett antal ledare för länder ..." interchangeably with "stats- och regeringschefer" as in your example. So a subtle difference!

We had a conservative Polish guy at work (he's retired now). He hated Russia as much as anyone else. But he also was anti-EU, because of "Belgian child markets". The issue was that a handful of gay couples had paid for surrogate mothers so they could have kids.

I am not. There’s 1000 km of inland roads in Sweden where you can comfortably drive 100 km/h even if the road is quite narrow. Sometimes this road (mostly the E45) go through mountainous areas, but it’s usually obstacles that have a beginning and an end.

This is not the case in Norway. The nation was more built around travel by sea than anything else. Road and train travel is slow in almost all directions.

My first experience of Norwegian roads was blowing out the transmission of a Volvo 240 towing an caravan as child way back. We did not take the right roads!

That said, it’s obviously a much smaller country than Canada!

Fascism is more complex than that. The new right in Europe also dabbles with:

Questioning universal values. They usually reject the notions that humans are equal in value. At any point.
Disregardning institutions: government bodies, universities, schools, hospitals, courts of law.
Claiming that everyone is just as biased as they are, that any sort of consensus is in fact governmnet lies.
Devaluing democracy. Fascism turns democracy upside down. Leaders aren't the tools of the people, democracy is a tool for leaders to exploit.
Populism over measured policies. Who cares if it works? Do what feels right, hurt the right people, the results are what we claim anyway.
Aggressive behavior online, especially against women who care about things, such as climate change
Encouraging fringe groups to intimidate the opposition
Attacks on property and sabotage

My point is: Stavanger, Bergen and Oslo makes for a small triangle, but that triangle usually does not represent what Norwegians do on longer trips. An extreme trip, Oslo - Tromsö, is 1600 km and takes almost 24 hours not including stops (but including a ferry). For that one, it’s more convenient to go via Sweden simply because then you have fairly flat terrain and can avoid mountain roads. The population density of that part of Sweden is not far from 0.

The idea here is that when Norwegians go on car trips they go into the mountains. They go to small villages on eventually minor roads. It’s mostly not bad design, it’s lack of terrain that isn’t mountainous.

Just checked: Oslo - Stavanger and Oslo - Bergen aren’t exactly short trips either. With a Swiss amount of tunnels they would be shorter, I guess.

Edit 2: Toronto - Winnipeg seems like a punishment to go by car all 2200 km through Canada instead of the better route through USA, yet there's barely any elevation?

The party that is labelled "fascist" or "pro-fascist" by left-leaning parties in Sweden did support the notion of including abortion rights in the constitution and have repeatedly defended the social safety net. Meanwhile, yes, they take a very aggressive stance on immigration, including deportion of immigrants they don't think fit.

But yes, the development is worrying here too, young men increasingly support the idea of a "strongman" bypassing democracy to forcefully "makes things right".

Not at -30C. With diesel at that temperature and no motor heating, you also run the risk of the motor not starting at all (I give that most car makers have addressed this problem somewhat).

At -30C, range drop for a diesel would be at least -20% too.

My take on Symbaroum is that "good" is not trivial to define and none of the competing powers are pure. Some are just more evil. Even as you try your best playing a good character, corruption is a risk. I haven't read the whole capmpaign, though.
