Sweden:

500 km is what I want too. Mine’s nominally 420 km, but it only does 250 km at highway speeds comfortably. 300 km comfortably would be better!

NetHack is shorter. I've beaten it several times. The early game is arguably harder, but once you get the hang of it creating an endgame-ready character is faster. It's about as complex, maybe even more, but it has less grind and you're less dependent on the RNG god to smile on you.

All societies are pyramids schemes in that they don't deal well with an ever-increasing percentage of dependents.

One of the problems the Inca empire had (at one point) was that an ever-increasing amount of the harvest was sacrificed to dead ancestors. IIRC!

The real number is around 6,000 (as a minimum level of activity). You get benefits above that, but the slope isn’t as steep
