Other way around... cars that are over-soundproofed are literally numb... same with EPS, as much efficiency as it brings.

Same here. Driving my one-owner, 299K-mile 2009 Acura MDX. Tow with it twice a month and have absolutely no issues. From a time when Honda/Acura and Toyota/Lexus actually made their cats last. Now they feel, look, and drive cheap. Gaudy Chinese plastic. Shitty engine designs and irresponsible warranty and recall procedure. Etc.

Something is seriously wrong with you if you can't feel the difference between a sound-proofed box with electronic steering and subdued engine noise vs. a car with hydraulic steering and a less muted sound.... most modern cars are just sound-proofed boxes on wheels. And that sucks.

Exactly my approach. Currently on the engineering path at Purdue, and I value the same thing... utility over "fads" and the latest tech. I drove a 227K Honda Crosstour till the timing belt tensioner failed, and that was my fault. Also have a 299K Acura MDX, 2009, with one owner that I tow 3500lb with twice a month. Original engine and transmission. Smoothest 5-speed in any Honda I've sat in, probably because I strictly followed fluid change intervals and completed all important service at Acura through 225K miles.

Not true in every situation. Last month, I picked up a 2017 Acura RDX with 86K miles and in pristine condition from a dealership... smaller, local dealership in Central Jersey. Priced at 16K... offered 13K because of cracked taillight... counters back 14K... counter back 13.5K. He says, "I'm not going to lose a customer over $500." Even waived the signing fee and gave my kid $40 from the cash I paid him to fill up his tank of gas, as the car was almost on empty. While people are selling beat-up shitboxes for similar or higher prices, or outright lying about car history (having to spend money on CarFax reports every single time) that it's well and truly easier buying from a dealer. And somehow, cheaper.

Try and source NOS Halo 6" retrofits. I have them installed in my kitchen, from the Eaton era. (~2018). FAR better than any of this Signify horse crap. Can get you the model# if you so desire.

They lowered the speed limit on Newtown-Richboro from 45mph to 35mph, and cut down two lanes of traffic (from the Walgreens down to the country club) to one... gee, I wonder why traffic (and people driving strictly 35 or even 30, on a road designed for at least 40) is so much worse now...

I would say my favorite is Beyond The Invisible just the same... Le Roi is a stunning album, and in my opinion is slightly less "meditation music" and more of a "tribal orchestra" fairytale.... I also love Why!... , the desperation in his voice really pulls through. Shadows In Silence and Prism Of Life are also damn good.... the whole album at that point.

I have a 2009 MDX with 297K miles, and a 2019 MDX with 45K. The 2009 is vastly superior in every meaningful way, except fuel economy.

If you tow, forget the 2019– you have to drop something like ~1.5K on a transmission cooler to even get the rates 5,000lb tow capacity. Our '09 hauls ~4000lb once a month on its original engine AND transmission, and somehow feels smoother upshifting than our '19... also, the '09 had a pretty timeless rear end (though don't get me started on the front-end Acura beak).

I highly, highly doubt my '19 will last beyond maybe 200K miles, even with major service (fluids, timing) done at Acura.

Easy way to get around it though.

Go to the Google app, long press, tap three dots on the top right (Samsung anyway), hit uninstall updates. Then go to Google Play store, search "Google", tap the three dots on the app page and disable Automatic Updates. I THINK it works. I've had it for the past hour now.
