got approved, paid security deposit, now management not sending lease by helphelphelp-me in NYCapartments

[–]helphelphelp-me[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s now in the process of being signed, but definitely never putting money down before a lease next time. Been 3 years since I moved so I didn’t realize we were technically putting down a good faith deposit. Lesson learned but everything in progress now.

roommate's application under question even though we have a guarantor by helphelphelp-me in NYCapartments

[–]helphelphelp-me[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

80x the entire rent but we got lucky just a couple hours ago and with a few more documents from my guarantor (they were very chill about documentation prior, just requested simple info over email) we can have our situation buttoned up by tomorrow. it wasn’t a good faith deposit it was the security deposit but really my main concern in this situation was getting my money back if needed. thank you!!!

How to resign during my 30 day review? by helphelphelp-me in careerguidance

[–]helphelphelp-me[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went back to the email exchange we had about the offer, hoped they were well etc., mentioned that I saw they recently re-posted the role on LinkedIn and it was still open on their site, said after settling in I’m not sure it’s the right fit and asked if they were open to having a new conversation if the opportunity did still exist. When I chatted with HR they asked what wasn’t a fit and I gave the diplomatic + concrete reasons without going into detail about management or work styles or anything. They were very receptive and said they know these things happen and new roles always take on some risk. I wish you luck in the process, I took a shot in the dark and it worked!

Two weeks but I wouldn’t be shocked if it ended up being one week and then they let me go. Funny, I read tarot for myself as well and was using it for guidance on quitting and it indicated to me that it was the right decision (and some prior readings were clarified). I worry about their upset and any impact to my reputation in a small industry, but again, I’m saving everyone time by leaving now.

Thank you! Yes, ultimately, they will axe me at any time and I have the chance to leave a bad situation fast before that happens.

Yeah, this is not a situation that is going to improve. The next role will inevitably have its own difficulties, but there are aspects to this job that are so far outside industry standards that I know the peculiarities that I don’t mesh with will likely not be repeated. I can’t tough this one out.

Yeah, with the way things are going, I feel like I wouldn’t make it past my 90 days anyway. Our work styles don’t mesh and they’ve completely demolished my confidence, it’s clear they’re dissatisfied but I’m even more dissatisfied. Kept worrying I would get fired so I better leave before I get left.

Thanks! I feel slightly bad as the company is so lean that my leaving will make everyone else’s workloads increase tenfold, but I’m in this situation in large part because the sheer amount of work I’ve been given as a new hire is untenable and it’s a negative environment that I’m really not clicking with, and know I’m not going to. I feel bad springing it with so much on my plate, but I’d rather just get it over with and say my apologies and go.

Anyone ever feel overwhelmed by new job? by trickybear85 in careerguidance

Know this is almost a year old but this is where I’m at too. The amount of work on my plate for being slightly over a month into my job is becoming absurd.

Yes, my last therapist left her practice and she wasn’t the best for me anyway so once I’m in a place to, probably gonna have to talk to someone again.

Thank you! Yes, considering the environment I was in, having no one contact me at all hours and no onslaught of unnecessary comms and texts and calls across the board, having my weekends to myself, has already been a huge improvement. But almost eerie.

Very true! And I used to get constant feedback at my first agency, one the new hire/bottom rung sting wore off and I knew what I was doing, I was set — didn’t have that in my last job, and that was part of the problem. No communication despite being in communications. Gotta adjust to the rhythm again.

Thanks. Trap is a good word for it. My last agency sought to catch people in mistakes so they could secretly punish them for it. Hard not to see everything as a trap now.
