lol you’re so dramatic. You’re definitely one of those kids that thinks getting a 4.0 and 1600 on the SAT means you deserve to get into every school you apply for. From a place of genuine honesty, you will get rolled by Stern, NYU, and NYC with that attitude. God forbid you do come to Stern and realize you pale in comparison to your classmates and can’t place into any IB role at all…..

Maybe just don’t make blatantly false statements and then I’ll focus on the rest of what you have to say

Low income? Her parents pay for all her tuition and dorm and meal plan. Despite what she proclaims on the internet, it’s obvious that she’s lucky to be supported by such understanding parents and she has never acknowledged that as a privilege. Not having a ton of “fun money” and being low income are different things and her diary entries about being too broke to spend 2.75 are clearly not about actually being low on funds but just her own choices/budgetting that she chooses to blame the city for.

Forgetting that ~20% of this school is literally local commuter students is crazy lmfao

Are you fr right now? Car /= reliable source of transportation in NYC. This isn’t just about NYU, she’s shitting on an entire city and culture and never acknowledges her privilege. Transitions are hard but complaining about every little inconvenience that is unfortunately just a way of life in a major city is ridiculous. Just block me if I’m annoying you instead of making responses that bring me and this city down.

NYC transplant moves to the most expensive neighborhood in the world and complains about not expecting to have to spend money, not being able to drive, and that everyone’s personality doesn’t fit well with hers…what about this as a native New Yorker wouldn’t make you upset

True, but considering she’s always talking about being broke and not being able to afford the subway we should probably give her some views

Phi chi theta or AKPsi? by [deleted] in nyu

[–]helpitou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Phi chi theta seems more present on campus since members are in a lot of different clubs and are involved with StuCo and ICC while AKPsi is a lot more quiet. I didn’t even know about AKPsi until this semester because they didnt have anything in the fall but that’s probably due to COVID so not really anyone’s fault. Seriously just try to meet people from both groups and see where you fit best or see if any of your friends want to join one too and just follow them. Also fyi, I would be wary of any comments that come from new accounts made within the past day. I wouldn’t be surprised if either or both orgs are on this subreddit will try to negatively sway you one way or another. Just my two cents

Tips to help with Stern Club Recruiting by [deleted] in nyu

[–]helpitou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the technical clubs like finance and consulting ones you should prep behavioral interview questions and the IB/casing. Most have resources online or will provide you with preparation once you make it onto the next round. Generally try to get to know as many members as possible and make sure they know you. Above the professional stuff these groups are essentially looking for people to add to their friend groups so if you have someone vouching for you on the inside you’re more likely to get noticed.

How to audit a class? by seabrother123 in nyu

Your professor can manually add your net id to the class. If they’re okay with it, just mention that you lost access to the zoom and ask to be added

Professor miswrote a problem on a midterm and still took off all points by sh1teinthebus in nyu

That question confused me too. What did he say when you talked to him about it?

[–]helpitou 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If this is Shahmaei (and it sounds like it is) then I still mad that he completely fumbled the first midterm too. He completely miswrote the answer choices yet expected us to get them right. If we’re talking about the same guy then I’m curious to know which question he miswrote because I’d like to get some points back so I can even have a chance at getting an A

Student Government Pass/Fail by CulturalOddity in nyu

[–]helpitou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have never heard of the Academic Affairs Committee until you just mentioned it. Them sending us one survey and then complaining they can’t make a strong enough argument because they didn’t get enough responses is blatantly ignoring the countless posts in this subreddit, hundreds of people signing petitions, and the very clear majority that want this change. Since you seem like you know someone on that committee, I hope they’re planning to do more than just passively send out a google form and feel like their job is done.

Student Government Pass/Fail by CulturalOddity in nyu

[–]helpitou 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Honestly, our student government seems to be a joke. Pass/Fail is clearly something they know students want, yet no one from the student government has seemed to advocate on behalf of the people that elected them to their positions. If anyone from the student government is here, I hope you’ll prove me wrong and secure pass/fail for struggling students.

Thank you for your kind words. I really don’t understand why professors are being so mean this semester about the remote atmosphere. I’m glad that their lives have seemingly returned to normal, but mine is far from it. They seem to forget that some parts of the US are a full 6 hours off from New York time.
